I served with illegal immigrants in the Army in 66-67. They were motivated by their anti-communist, anti-Castro ideology. But they were also promised that an honorable discharge would get them a path to citizenship.
Illegals in the military as a path to citizenship had existed ever since the status of illegal immigrant was created in the 1920s.
Yes, but they were not intent to overthrow our country.
So these people who come into our country in violation of our laws, don’t share our culture or values and in too many cases actively campaign for secession/conquest - yeah, let’s teach these people how to fight.

Just back from a graduation party where I had a longish discussion with a fifty-something nephew - even in his relatively short lifespan (compared to mine at seventy plus) he was lamenting the way he’s seen the country deteriorate - we ended up agreeing that the Great Experiment has pretty much failed - people as a group are too dumb and/or emotionally stunted to rule themselves......
We are allowing non-citizens to join the military? It’s all over; we’re done.
