Trump affirms backing gun ban for those on terror watch list
Washington Examiner ^ | June 18, 2016 | John Siciliano

Donald Trump reaffirmed his stance on restricting individuals on the terror watch list from being able to purchase firearms, despite Republican objections.

"We have to make sure that people that are terrorists or have even an inclination toward terrorism cannot buy weapons, guns," Trump told ABC's White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl in an interview that will air Sunday on "This Week."

What I would be in favor of is some flag being sent to Homeland Security and/or the FBI if someone on the watchlist purchases a firearm. Increased scrutiny should then kick in. Perhaps confiscation of the purchased gun if some illegality on the part of the purchaser is determined. If the purchaser is a convicted felon, or is not a citizen, they should be denied from purchasing firearms. It’s hard to go beyond that and still show fidelity to the Constitution

Considering the type of names Cruz supporters get called, turnaround is fair play, isn't it?

Not all Trump supporters are Trumpets but the ones who blindly coverup, justify, deflect and spin themselves into pretzels every time Trump presents a liberal position in a positive light, deserve the contempt and ridicule of every conservative/libertarian.

I really hope the NRA has that pow-wow with Trump and smack down this nonsense and that he actually listens to them rather than get all arrogant and pretends he knows everything.

I’m sure Omar Matten (spit be upon him) appreciates you defending his 2A right to purchase firearms.

There are some people incompatible with American citizenship

Guess who's been told his rhetoric is "incompatible with our values and who we are as Americans?" Our presumptive nominee.

The DHS director said three days ago that "right wingers" are every bit as dangerous as muslim terrorists.

I really don’t think the Founders would have had much of a dilemma on their hands about this.

Well, in that case you don't know any history.

Go into the corner and read The Declaration of Independence and don't take the big pointy hat off until you understand that all of the things George III did, he did without due process, while denying his subjects the rights of Englishmen.

We are all outlaws in the eyes of America. If you don't understand that yet, you've been asleep for the last seven years.

Since I don’t think he is “GOING LEFT ON 2A”, your Post makes no sense. Believe what you want to believe.

“I would posit that it makes more sense to have such purchases quietly trigger a closer watch, than to stop them.”

If we could trust FBI, etc. to actually stop them it would. Case in point, what just happened. And that’s compounded by scrubbing of records on Mohammadans by the Kenyan clown show’s commissar at DHS.

If abortions are illegal, then women who have them have broken the law, and deserve to be prosecuted, and any men involved in the decision do as well. He was right about that.

There isn't a single pro-life organization that agrees with that assessment. If you do, than you're an extremist and not a true pro-lifer.

Donald Trump doesn’t speak for the pro-life movement.

"Serious members of the pro-life movement would affirm that while they wish to make abortion illegal, they seek to do so in order to save unborn children and to legally recognize the dignity of unborn human life — not to punish women. Indeed, the movement has historically opposed punishing women who have abortions, noting that women who face unintended pregnancy are often under stress and that the goal of the pro-life movement is to make abortion not the only answer....

"And true to form, he has since reversed his position after swift and corrective criticism from pro-life groups. But the fact that he would go further and say that men should bear no responsibility for abortion decisions makes it clear that it is neither concern for women nor even the fate of children that influences his views."

DJT is a very good listener and a quick learner. He will soon learn the truth of what you have written!

POTUS candidate has to come around to normal FReeper’s positions, in time, just give it time? Trump will wake up shortly and say, you know, 1A and 2A are really what holds America together, I should retract everything I’ve said about letting the .gov define 2A based on some fly-list, and I’m really not going to expand the libel laws.

You are thinking this is going to happen? Really?

Very generous of you to support ISIS 2A rights. Perhaps a Cruzer Guns for ISIS program? After all, as you say they have a 2A right to purchase a gun.

Oh, Fred - your #NeverTrumpdom blinks in NEON.

Reading your anti-Trump bullMitt makes me throw up in my mouth.

It would be better for 100 terrorists to obtain 100 AR-15s each than for one law-abiding American to be prevented from exercising his Constitutional rights.

On a public site, yes, Tamar, it would be fair play. But this is not a public site. It is a privately-owned site, and the owner has made multiple requests that posters stop trashing Trump and insulting Trump supporters.

I LOVE DJT!!! Does that make me one of those pretzels? : )
When I listen to him speak, there are times when I think he isn’t seeing the whole accurate picture. But that’s okay, because he will learn quickly.

He loves this country and wants to work for us, not like the alternative, Clinton, who enriches herself at our expense.

Given that, I would think that it’s not a difficult choice, for We the People.

Cheers,
RWL

Every time I see a Trump supporter insult a fellow conservative I won't take it quietly. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Respect is earned, not granted.

I’m confident he will not use some silly list that is now in place and I have no problem keeping guns away from obvious terrorist suspects as long as due process is honored for the US citizens.

Yes, and I might add, even if, for some reason, he does not, he is hands down the only choice if America is to be restored.

BTW, libel laws DO need to be reformed.

There are so many of us who have so many differing opinions. But really, if we don’t 100% get behind DJT and stop criticizing him for this and that, we will face Hillary’s Hell.

We will, and our children, and our grandchildren’s future depends on who some criticize: Mr. Trump.

That’s the reality I see.
