For once they realize the sun drives our weather. They are correct about the sun. The shifting of the poles though might be worse than the winter is coming.

Global warming is a hoax. This is not. We haven’t had any real warming for years. This is, of course cyclical. It’s not a doomsday scenario, it’s just a cycle of the sun. The sun does what it does. We have to adapt. The global warming idiots better be thinking about preparing for harsher winters, cooler summers and shorter growing seasons for a couple of years. More coal and more gas drilling.

Will these people EVER shut up?

Too hot. Too cold. Just right... not in our lifetime.

Enough already... decades ago!

Sounds like a mini ice age, pole shift and Yellowstone eruption convergence.

I’m stocking up on jerky and whiskey.

Every degree of cooling from hte loss of sun spots will cause mass starvation on millions of acres of land now providing only subsistence farming.

Unlike worry about looking one’s boat dock in Kennebunct Port, this is a real result from a real cyclical event.

Don’t tell Al Gore that the sun effects Earth’s climate. He still thinks the Earth’s interior is millions of degrees. Leave a man his illusions, can’t you??

Climate change
Damn you SUV’s and overbreeding humans, look what you’ve done
No doubt there will be enough workers surviving to mine and refine fossil fuels to preserve the lifestyles of the elites

“Why the sun goes blank” made me think of the song by one of my all time favorite groups The Corrs (not the Coors, that’s a beer).

Totally unrelated to this thread, but I thought you might enjoy.

“When the Stars Go Blue” The Corrs, featuring Bono, LIVE!

Game of Thrones-like Winter

Oh, for crying out loud. Amateur radio operators have known about the 11-year solar cycle for decades. The lack of sun spots lessens the effectiveness of the radio equipment in terms of long distance communications. We are almost at the depth of the cycle right now. It must be a slow news day.

After the month of June, with daily hights ranging from 109 to 118, I for one could use a little cooling here in the desert.

Ah, reporters. This one was simply determined to run with a Game of Thrones trope and sensationalized as necessary to flesh it out. That’s what happens when you think of an eye catching lead that doesn’t fit the facts of the story. The sun has a relevant eleven year cycle. Check. We’re coming up on a minimum. Check. This particular minimum is going to be the worst in 500 years. Really? Why? Oh, never mind; cut to picture of Jon Snow in a snowstorm. This is what the modern American audience substitutes for evidence.

Cold - grow food in the south.
Warm - grow food in the north.
Problem solved. Next!

I mainly use the sun as a directional aid and a timepiece. As long as a dragon doesn’t eat old Sol, I’m good.

Arrogant humans think they somehow can control the weather. The planet cools, warms, cools, warms, and has been doing so for much longer than man has been leaving a “carbon footprint.”

This is a natural cycle, solar minimum is now in full swing.

As I’ve said on other posts about this....

In 2009 the sun was blank for 260 days of the year. In 2010 there were 50 days without spots.

2008 set the second record low, 266 days vs. 1913’s 311 days.

So I must say the current span is insignificant.
