WASHINGTON – Congress voted Friday to put limits on the expense accounts ex-presidents get from American taxpayers.
The bill, which cleared the House by voice vote, is heading to President Barack Obama's desk. The legislation sets an annual allowance of $200,000 a year for travel, staff and office costs that have become a standard part of life after the Oval Office.
For former presidents who make money through books, speaking fees and other ventures, the allowance is reduced for every dollar in outside income in excess of $400,000.
Both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, like other former presidents before them, have earned millions in speaking fees since leaving office.
The legislation sets presidential pensions at $200,000 a year, nearly the same as the current amount. Each surviving spouse would be allotted a $100,000 annual survivor benefit.

I didn’t see it either. It seems generally when they make a change which concerns Presidential salaries it goes into affect with the next President but then again that was the old America. It seems anything goes with the current regime.

Mark my words. Obama will be worth billions out of office. BUT, his mooching demon of a wife will still spend the tax payer dollars traveling the world. The two of them will not be seen together after January 20th. Both Obamas will have their entire budget covered by the taxpayer regardless of expense. There is no way they’ll do without.
Why should EX-presidents get any expense account at all? They are not doing any work for the government or the people; and they certainly don’t need it.
Come to that, why do they get a pension? Or their spouses get survivor benefits?
Give them nothing.
