I was asking myself the same question about pharmaceutical names, like clopidogrel. There must be an algorithm out there tasked with creating bizarre names, and it has a sense of humor!

My wife had a student named “Catrice”. She asked the student where that name came from. The answer: “My momma tole me that just befo’ she went into laba she saw da cat on top’a da frigerator and got a bowl uh rice out of da frigerator.” Go figure where some of those other names came from.
