Prior to Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday, Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred went on ESPN's Mike & Mike, where he was asked to give his stance on the Cleveland Indians' controversial "Chief Wahoo" logo.
The logo, which has been worn in every game throughout the playoffs, has been widely criticized for being insensitive and offensive for its characterization of Native Americans. The team also uses a retro, block-lettered 'C' as a hat logo, but players voted to play with the Chief Wahoo cap in all postseason games.
Though the players appear to prefer it, the future of the logo may be bleak. Commissioner Manfred said that he plans to meet with the Indians' ownership group after the season to discuss the logo and what should be done with it down the road.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Braves are probably next.
Don’t forget the Redskins....
All the rest is just forked Tongue talk.
No one has a sense of humor anymore...
Chief Wahoo is a MASCOT... not a culturally significant representation of all indians.
And the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Highly offensive to redheads, and Irish in general.
Next we’ll discover that “Wally-the Green Monster” is dissing all those identifying as walls.
No it definitely is not. Lol
In this politically correct world we live in, the pressures are strong.
I heard the Redskins are thinking about a new stadium, but if they want to build in Washington DC itself, that the city will make a stadium deal contingent on a name change.
These pressures will be out there. The liberals will be relentless.
The irony is that a lot of these self righteous liberals don’t even watch sports; they aren’t fans of the Redskins or Cleveland Indians. People who care nothing about sports are all over the issue of sports team nicknames. Go figure .
Nevermind "Redskins", they may have to get rid of the "Washington" part first, because he was a slave owner.
I live near one of the Seneca reservations here in Western New York. A few weeks ago I went to the “fall festival” there and saw a young guy, about 20 years old and HUGE, with a Cleveland Indians hat on. With the logo in this story. I first talked to him about how the team was doing, I’m a 60 year fan, and quickly realized he knew almost nothing about the team. I told him I was concerned about wearing my hat and he laughed. He had the hat because so many people on the “res” LOVE that logo!
In fact any Irishman that says it does offend him is nothing more than a p###y boy!
They have already gone after the Redskins for several years.
Harry Reid demanded they change their name. Obama demanded they change their name.
In general I think these complaints are a lot of hot air.
The Washington Redskin, the old North Dakota Fighting Sioux, were actually respectful and dignified depictions.
However, if some Indian had a problem with Chief Wahoo I could understand. It’s a damn insulting caricature IMHO
It's about the only thing offensive about Notre Dame football this year.
Chief Wahoo no celebrate for many moons. Now Chief Wahoo do war dance and go scalp ‘em Cubs.
Chief Wahoo
Probably the offspring of an inferior Irish woman and some tea drinking Limey fop...
Best logo in pro sports! The team not so much. Bob Feller was tops.
