Mr Obama's visit to Athens, Greece, was supposed to be a grand farewell, but descended into chaos when angry rioters took to the street to demand he leave.

Youths riding motorbikes, carrying wooden clubs and launching petrol bombs tried to break a police cordon and confront Mr Obama directly.

Hooded left wing protestors took to the streets shouting "Yankees go home" and "we don't need protectors" – a reference to Mr Obama's announcement that he thought Greece should be allowed off the hook when it comes to its spiralling national debt.

When are the Greeks NOT rioting?

My one opportunity to be posted in Europe was in 1949 when my Father was offered a position on our Greek Ambassador's staff (he was career Navy)..., he turned it down due to the obvious imminent threat that the Communists were going to overthrow the Greek Government! A wise move at the time! How many Governments has Greece had since WWII... 60+ now?

Somehow that doesn't seem like the real reason for the rioting. Maybe they just can't stand globalists either.

Humm. A couple of thoughts. The State Department and the CIA had no idea that this might happen? That’s amazing. We can bet somebody at least tried to brief Obama that visiting Greece might not be a good idea, but he did it anyway.

Obama preached debt relief, which is the same as preaching to the choir. The Greek economy has contracted because it was artificially inflated by way too much money; borrowed money. They used it to give thirteen months a year retirement packages to their civil workforce which gets to retire sooner than almost all the other EU workers and with more money. It would be crazy to give debt relief to the Greeks because they will use the increased credit to borrow more money. The Greek government needs to collapse, along with their economy and then be rebuilt along financial lines that are in line with the country’s income. Obama is an economic idiot.

Oops, sort of looks like the Current Occupant may not be allowed to take up exile in Greece upon his departure from the White Hut in January, 2017.

He is just going to have to look for exile in some other foreign country.

Ecuador, maybe. Julian Assange found refuge in the Ecuadorean Consulate in Great Britain
