Litigator David Boies and the law firm he founded, Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, have stopped doing legal work for Theranos Inc. after disagreeing about the strategy for handling ongoing government investigations of the blood-testing company, according to people familiar with the matter.
Mr. Boies, 75 years old, has been one of the countrys best-known litigators since the late 1990s. He became Theranoss outside counsel after being approached in 2011 by two investors in the Palo Alto, Calif., startup. He fiercely defended Theranos against questions about its technology and operations.
Those efforts included threatening to take legal action against The Wall Street Journal during the months before it published in October 2015 its first article detailing problems at Theranos.

Here’s another post about everyone’s favorite loony ‘businesswoman.’
Maybe the money ran out....?
Sometimes law firms will cut ties with a client that is uncooperative, no matter how rich they are. Legal advisers are determined to do their best, but they can’t do that if their clients isn’t working with them.
Wow..!
Good ping, thank you.
I hope to catch this in the print edition today. Yesterday’s paper had an article about a putative new blood test for concussion, and a start-up company with a new machine that runs the test.
The company is called Quanterix; the CEO is one Kevin Hrusovsky. The whole thing reminded me a bit of the Theranos situation, although of course we’ll have to see.
David Boies “...has been one of the countrys best-known litigators since the late 1990s.” But, few remember how Barry Richard ate his lunch before the SCOTUS following the 2000 election. It was a masterpiece to behold.
Sometimes maybe they drop their clients because they know they’re culpable to claims made in the investigations made against them.
That is exactly what is happening.
Ted Olsen wiped the floor with David Boies and his bad comb-over, while eating his lunch in front of the Supreme Court. I don't who Barry Richard is?
My apologies. Barry Richard’s testimony was before the Florida Supreme Court before it went to SCOTUS.

Theranos Founder Elizabeth Holmes to Host Clinton Fundraiser
Between Theranos and Hillary's campaign, a whole lot of left-wing cash was permanently flushed down the crapper.
I forgot about him. I do remember that no matter how good a case was put before the Florida Supreme Court, they kept ruling left, even while the SCOTUS was deliberating it's case.
