Or perhaps it’s Trump who’s worming his way into the GOPe?

*************

Your point may have some validity. We’ll soon see.

Adding Nikki Haley to the team really surprised me. I don’t Trust her or Romney on bit. They are both known backstabbers. Trump said he was going to drain the swamp, but evidently some of the “creatures” will be allowed to stay.

It was the same with Reagan. The Rockefeller Republicans hated him, but cowered to him once he won.

My concerns are that people of dubious loyalty may lend the appearance of cowering to Trump, but behind his back they will seek consensus and believe they can “compromise” with Democrats. They actually think that reaching across the isle is a good thing. These same people may also be inclined to surreptitiously work with the media.

As I leaned a long time ago, its not what people say, its what they do that’s matters. The termites in the GOPe will say or do anything to worm their way into the woodwork and then start eating the structure.

I disagree with most here.

I think it’s a good appointment, very strategic both domestically and internationally.

To quote a master politician and former POTUS, who accomplished his entire domestic agenda easily, “It’s better to have him inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in’.

Sorry to disagree with so many.

I agree with you. My question was whether he would be workin toward policies that are not the same as what President Trump would want, and I haven’t seen any.

If he wants to be President of all Americans he should not write off GOPe.

I admire his strategic foresight. I was born in the 1950s, and Trump has the potential of being the greatest President in my lifetime.

“Its a trend that is unsettling to many Trump supporters who thought Trump wanted to drain the swamp.”

Agree, it is unsettling.

Have some faith, he’s shown time after time a gift for allt this.

Trump might be reinforcing his flanks (he did attend Military school) for the upcoming battles with the dems and media. Can’t fight them when you’re fighting your own party.

Between now and inauguration it’s going to be all nicety nice.

Your points are valid. I realize he is trying to establish an atmosphere that will facilitate his agenda. Not an easy thing to do given all the competing interests he has to deal with.

As long as he doesn’t pick Romney as SoS I won’t feel overly concerned.

Yes, Romney as SoS would be very disconcerting.

He’s gotta give him something though...

Romney doesn't have any firm policy positions.

As Secretary of State, he doesn't need any.

His duty is to look good, talk smoothly, be a pleasant face for the USA, and carry out the boss's orders.

I think it's actually a good job for Romney, and it will both bring some RINOs back to Team Trump and keep Romney himself too busy to sabotage Trump in the background before the 2020 election.
