The Wall Street Journal recently posted that Mitt Romney is emerging as the leading candidate to be Secretary of State in the Trump administration.
Obviously we all know Romney is the poster child for GOPe, and that for whatever reason he threw his debates against Obama in 2012.
Personally, I would like to see him lead a task force to eliminate vast numbers of Federal regulations, but it is not up to me.
In this thread I am concerned with Foreign Policy and nothing else.
Where can we expect Romney to differ from what we expect from President Trump on the Foreign Policy front? Is there anything to be concerned about?
Romney sucks, he’ll be crappy secretary of State, might as well keep Kerry.
I did NOT vote for Romney. EVER.
#NeverRomney
NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE
First Priebus and now Romney? Not exactly the kind of appointments we were expecting. It appears the GOPe is worming its way into the Trump administration.
OK, since you ask, here is Romney on FOREIGN POLICY:

Romney has been awful but he could also be useful. He could keep the Republicans in the Senate in line with the Trump program as long as he commits to being on board. There are strategic advantages and well as political advantages to going outside the Trump box. He won’t be able to run his own foreign policy, he will have to be on the team. If he’s willing, he provides a lot of cover in an area where he can’t do a lot of harm.
It will be Trump doing something that says to all the opposition on Capitol Hill that he’s not going to isolated and boxed into a corner politically. That carries advantages.
I don’t think the WSJ or any other media knows who Trump is going to pick. I think Trump just interviewed Romney to mend fences and also show what a shameless whore Mitt is. It seems to have worked on both counts.
I think you are right. I certainly hope so! Trump is no fool.
RINOmney is a snake, who worked against the Republican nominee.
Never underestimate the Trumpster and the “Art of the Deal”.
I was thinking that too but after giving it more thought, Never Romney!. He’s scum, disloyal, untrustworthy and he’s been rejected by the country at large. If Trump chooses Romney it’s a bad sign. I will also predict that Romney will primary Trump (especially if he’s giving power in the Trump administration)
He wont be able to run his own foreign policy, he will have to be on the team.
*************
No chance of either one happening.
Mitt had his big chance and blew it. He’s a proven loser who will only work to undermine Trump.
I think the first time he undermines Trump’s foreign policy or does something stupid he’ll be gone.....You know, “ to spend more time with his family and work on some causes he’s passionate about.”
I don’t like this list 100%, but I don’t see anything that makes me believe Romney would pull US foreign policy in a different direction from what we want.
Why is Massachusetts getting all the hits for appointees or potential ones..
Scott Brown? Wilbur?
Yes,Virginia , we’re going moderate.. come hell or high costly healthcare..
Id like to remind everyone of when Trump said, Do Not Believe anything about appointments unless it comes directly from him-——ergo...I am not going to believe this until I hear it from the President Elects mouth.
Romney = Nikki Haley in slacks.
