I’m going to invest in, “Turtle Crossing” signs.
I admit that I am completely biased when it comes to Romney.
I wouldn’t be able to see him as a good pick because I think he is a traitor to conservatives and a GOPE.
But perhaps he would be good. I will try not to have heart attack when trump picks him..because it looks like that is going to be the case.
A little tired of the hand wringing around here every time Trump “thinks outside the box”....
A couple of thoughts ...
... #1 This lady is highly capable and intelligent, as her track record indicates,
... #2 Infrastructure is one of Trump’s priorities - he needs Congress to go along, and the Senate is where the GOP’s margin is thin, so ...
... he is, as I stated elsewhere, “preparing the field for the Sprign offensive” by nailing down allies and turning neutrals into allies ...
... trust me, there is nothing this man does that is not planned out carefully; EVERYTHING Trump does “has an angle” with a view to achieving his goals...
... remember - he’s usually playing CHESS while the opposition is playing checkers ...
I don’t like it either, the more establishment people he appoints, the less likely we are to see the change we voted for.
I see what Trump is doing.....he wants transportation/infrastructure bill passed. Now that’s low on my totem pole but that what’s he wants and from I’ve heard is that McConnell and many Republicans in senate are cool to a transportation bill, so Trump is hiring McConnells wife to basically head that. What is McConnell to do? Now this part isn’t a drain the swamp policy for sure in my book but Trump wants things done and he sees that’s the way to get his policy done in some areas
Not important, SOS,NSA,Def, Att Gen are the ones that are crucial
Ughhhh! Guess we’re not draining that damned swamp after all!
Uhm. Unless your going to force the real pick (Dept. Sec.) to be someone conservative, Chao ain’t no how draining the swamp.
I'm less concerned about her spouse than I am about her long tenure inside the Beltway -- but I'm impressed that Trump hired an MBA for this role instead of a lawyer or a career politician.
I work as an engineer and planner on transportation projects myself, and Chao's nomination reinforces some very interesting rumors I'm hearing around the industry about Trump's agenda for the nation's infrastructure. It sounds like Wall Street and innovative financing arrangements are going to play an enormous role in his infrastructure investment plan.
Is he trying to buy off Mitch McConnell by putting his wife in the cabinet?
You make a fair point.
And at least this is the THIRD double minority that he has hired...Two Indian women and One Asian Woman.
By bringin in Chao, who will only do what Trump tells her to do,Mitch agreed to let Trump wear spurs when ridin herd, more win
Agree about RINOs running the Senate, but I’m going to put some faith in Trump’s powers of persuasion. Such a critical time for the country, and given that the political factions are hyper-polarized, the concept of a supermajority requirement to invoke cloture is outdated (first passed by the Senate in 1917). Time to end it and return to what the Framers intended, votes by simple majorities in both houses.
This is starting to make sense now.
Payola for the corrupt republicans to advance trump’s agenda.
Romney for Ryan...now Chow for Turtle d!ck
Can these backstabbing ahole repubikans be kept of the loop? I hope so, otherwise it’ll be leak central.
And I always respect your opinions, even when we disagree.
I recognize the downside to Romney. Because he’s a billionaire, he does not have to fear Trump and may feel like he’s the “adult in the room”, in which case this appointment will fail.
His comments about Trump, especially in the March speech, were childish, petulant, and poorly thought out.
I hope the election results have illuminated for Romney why he lost, and how much he let down people who were counting on him because he failed to see the misery globalization brought to the Great Lakes states. I’m prejudiced against people who don’t get this, because I believe they do not have proper fraternal feelings for their fellow Americans.
All that aside, DJT is a talent spotter of rare ability, and if he can make use of Romney, I’m prepared to trust his judgement.
Full disclosure: Mitt and I are neighbors in New Hampshire, we run into him and his family around town when they’re here, and they come across as genuine and ordinary people. I suppose that affects my opinion to some degree.

I understand what you’re trying to say here. However, I find that ALL of his appointments *are* important. No, I may not be happy with some of them,,,, but this isn’t a good one.
I agree, some people are practicing up to be snowflakes.
Do you think he would be better as SOS or over the VA?
Compare with W Bush, who picked Norman Mineta, a dem who served under Clinton
