After a dinner meeting with Donald Trump at Jean-Georges restaurant in New York, Mitt Romney delivered a glowing review of the president-elect’s leadership during the transition.

Mr. Romney, who was invited to the dinner purportedly for a follow-up interview for the job of secretary of state, described it as a “wonderful evening” and said that he was “impressed” with Mr. Trump’s handling of his upset victory in the election.

“We had another discussion about affairs throughout the world and these discussions I’ve had with him have been enlightening, and interesting, and engaging,” Mr. Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, told reporters outside the restaurant.

Mr. Romney said that from what he’s seen of Mr. Trump’s leadership during the transition, he was optimistic that “America’s best days are ahead of us.

He struggles to be complimentary of the President-Elect.

You nailed it. His "praise" danced around the actual persona of President-Elect Trump. He found it extremely awkward to praise Trump in precisely those areas in which he vilified him (which included almost everything);ergo, his dance.

Romney has already shown the world that he is a suck-up and a fraud. Certainly not qualified to be SOS. I hope the fact that he made a public statement indicates that he’s not getting the job.

These are two very different kinds of people. They don’t even really belong at the same table. LOL.

If Trump doesn't want him to be SoS I would have no problem if he offered him another position with more daunting organizational challenges and less visibility.

For me, the odd thing is that Romney doesn't seem like a good fit for any position other than the President of the United States. I didn't like his politics but I have no doubt that he would have brought a lot of dignity and class to the position.

And then Bush delivered us straight into the jaws of the new world order. Bush was the poison pill they managed to insert into the ‘Reagan Revolution.’

Romney speaks well of Trump? Definitely qualifies as news!

Not really. Romney has spoken well of Trump before -- like in 2012 when he got Trump's endorsement for his doomed presidential campaign.

Romney thanks Trump for endorsement.

Romney is a miserable, lying sleazebag who will say anything at all that serves his interests at the time.

As the above video show, he doesn't have an ounce of integrity.

All Romney will have to do is to Bain Capital the State Department. All of the actual foreign policy will be run from the Whitehouse.

Yup. Trump needs an intact GOP onboard with his policies, he needs advocates throughout the party. I predict Trump is going to extend an olive branch to key members across the isle as well. The one massive flaw with Obama is his utter and total failure to sign the GOP onto his agenda (it would have necessitated compromise—heaven forbid Mr. Pen and Phone) and now we’ll see how that blunder unfolds as everything Obama forced through will be swept into the trashcan where it belongs. Actually, I’m very glad Obama was such a prick, we can rewind back to Bush and pretend he never existed.

There does seem to be a video taken from outside on youtube.

But what I really mean is....Trump has the ability have a dinner meeting unnoticed. There are plenty of places around him that are not in the public eye like this.

He wanted to be seen.

SCOOP: Sec of state auditions aren't over, I'm told. Romney to talk to Trump again tomorrow, as are Petraeus, Giuliani, Corker, Gen. Kelly.

That is very easy to visualize; you write good script!
