Amazon’s Bezos says meeting with Trump, tech leaders was ‘very productive’
Seattle Times ^

Jeff Bezos said a gathering of tech titans Wednesday with President-elect Donald J. Trump had been “very productive,” and that the Amazon.com CEO emphasized to the incoming administration that innovation was key in creating new jobs.

Bezos, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Apple’s Tim Cook and other high-flying tech executives attended a meeting at Trump Tower in New York with the president elect and his transition team.

It was an encounter with a man who, as a candidate, rubbed many in the technology industry the wrong way with restrictive views on immigration and other social issues.

Trump didn’t seem very happy with Big Tech either. He lambasted Apple for manufacturing iPhones abroad and singled out Bezos, who owns The Washington Post in addition to Amazon.

They are already ahead of many on this. School Choice is about TRAINING Not EDUCATING. Most major districts are already interlocking with the beloved Chambers of Commerce nationwide, NGO’s,etc..forming corporate-packed interest on charter school boards to inform on what education should look like. 21st Century Learning, “Human Capital” Officers at every big city district. I’m sure that Trump backing SC is about bridging with corps and their workforce needs.
They aren’t gonna be teaching Shakespeare or Beowolf anymore. Cursive is already gone.

That’s a picture of democracy. As a plutocrat, Trump was a minor planet, yet here he is at the center of the plutocratic universe ... because a bunch of yahoos and rednecks ( plus me :-) voted him into office! To me it’s all truly inspiring. Perhaps events will disabuse me of this notion, but not yet!

False analogy. There are a multitude of websites offering anything Bezos has. And I do; I hate a monopoly. The issue is freedom. “Yeah and we can also get by with kerosene lamps. but why would anyone want to?” Because of the freedom that someone wants to. You missed the point.

Obama got his “to give him incentive to do something great”. He should return it, because he’s done nothing good, let alone great. But he won’t, because in his narcissistic little mind, he’s a giant among men. He’s half right -— he’s a giant all right -— a giant FAILURE.

Cursive is already gone.

Well, as I've said before, I opted out of cursive in grade school in 1959 and got away with it by demonstrating my preternatural printing speed to my 6th grade teacher at my desk, at her request. I remember the moment. They aren’t gonna be teaching Shakespeare or Beowolf anymore.

This, to me, is a different matter. Although I do have to admit I never read Beowulf( ahem. )

... but Shakespeare! Well, you're going to learn about Shakespeare from our culture, at least at this point, but you just won't know that's what you're learning. Shakespeare is the Pierian Spring of our language, and it's surely a shame not to visit there.

lol most of us can get along just fine without Amazon, but it does have its conveniences....

My life would not be appreciably affected if it went away, though.

Read Beowolf it’s pretty cool. Had to read it with my son recently for his class. (private school-homeschool model) She gave one creative project, one major exam , and two papers...he is only 12. We are really looking forward to a vacation!!!

Oh wow. Its only $66.9B. Didn’t realize things were going so rough for him.

Amazon is a great company. A great American company. Its totally changed retail. And its not going anywhere anytime soon.

No, there isn’t. Investors have just decided to overlook the whole profit thing. Rightly or wrongly.

And Amazon is set to make a boatload of money on AWS.

That may explain why some at the table appeared with grim faces.

I wouldn’t hold my breath though.

If Bezos said this in the Washington Post it will be the first positive thing the Washington Post has printed about Trump since Bezos bought it,

“Trump water! Bwaaaahahahaha!!!”

No kidding! What showmanship! If any of these folks had a lick of sense, they’d have asked President Trump to autograph and date their bottles, and then display then in their office trophy cases!
