The only thing I’m pondering re:this article is the usage of “is” or “are” when referring to the media. That dang singular/plural always trips me up!

Not really. It's attacking the CIA's credibility from the left, and mocking the MSM's sudden, unanimous respect for the wisdom of the CIA, and of our newfound obligation to believe everything the CIA says. The article is mildly critical of Trump, but very skeptical of the media's "the Russians did it" theme.
