Legal Fees Slashed in Ithaca Reverse Discrimination Case
New York Law Journal ^ | January 9, 2017 | Joel Stashenko

A federal judge cut in half the amount to which he said an attorney was entitled for representing a police officer in a reverse discrimination suit against the city of Ithaca.

Northern District Judge Gary Sharpe granted the defendants' motion to stay the award granted to Rome lawyer AJ Bosman pending an appeal.

Sharpe said plaintiff Christopher Miller's judgment of $280,004 after three trials in the case between 2012 and 2016 qualified him as the prevailing party and made Bosman eligible for fees.

Miller, a white male, argued throughout the case that he was given difficult job assignments in retaliation for complaining about being passed over in the early 2000s for promotion in favor of less-qualified minority and female officers.

Sharpe determined that Bosman's initial fee request of $937,430 was excessive and essentially halved it to $492,706 by reducing the number of hours she could bill for the hourly rate.

Isn’t New York also the State of Evil?

“Isn’t New York also the State of Evil?”

No. Places like Ithaca and NYC give the rest of the state a bad name. I come from gorgeous, conservative western NYS. Remember when Cruz got barbecued when he mentioned, “New York values”?

NY is evil but Ithaca is pure evil, like that stuff in “Time Bandits.”

I think Cruz was referring to the leftist centers, such as NYC. On that, he was dead-on correct. Who else elects an open Communist for mayor?

Understood.

We have an “Ithaca” in Texas. It’s called Austin.

“I think Cruz was referring to the leftist centers, such as NYC.”

I think you’re probably right. But he didn’t say that and it pissed off a lot of good people.

At least Austin has some good BBQ and a couple of decent music sites. Ithaca has tofu tapas and a Grassroots festival.

Cornell does have some talented professors and students (not that you can’t find these elsewhere), some very good libraries, and a very good Vet School. The scenery is pretty for being east of the Mississippi and the hockey is fairly decent.

They cut her bill in half because she was a woman.

Seems proper.

Under Sharia a womans testimony is worth only half of that of a mans.

Isn’t New York also the State of Evil?

No. Other more rural counties throughout New York State were predominantly for Trump in the last election. However, because of the massive concentration of liberals associated with Cornell Univesity and Ithaca College, the county overwhelmingly (percentage-wise, 68%) was more Hillary-favored than even the more populous counties such as Albany (60%, Albany city), Erie (50%, Buffalo, a toss-up), Monroe (54%, Rochester), Onondaga (60%, Syracuse), and Westchester (65%, NYC suburbs).

It was only out-paced by the core county/boroughs of New York City (Bronx=the Bronx, 89%; New New York=the city, 87%; Kings=Manhattan, 80%; and Queens=Brooklyn, 76%), which contain about 7.5 million population, that dominate the general will of most of the rest of te state and continually topple it for the Democratic electors. Look at this pictorial representation Click here), and you will see that the rest of the state was solidly red for Trump and conservatism.

Believe me, the state of my birth from the area-controlled point of view, is--and has always been--conservative in nature. Even Tompkins/Ithaca with its 100,000 population is a bare smidgen of the effect of the four or five core counties that make up the city and its suburbs. There's where the evil is concentrated, and it ought to be separated out as another state, with another capitol, such that the will of the rest of the state could have its own conservative-leaning Senators, without altering the Congressmen distribution.

In none of the counties I ever lived in was I subjected to the stultifying leftist viewpoint of those city-slickers, so please don't label the whole state as being evil as New York City, the element that put the Cuomos, Schumer, the non-native Hillary Clinton, and such as Bella Abzug, Adam Clayton Powell, and Charles Rangel in power.

I say, set off Manhattan, Long Island, Staten Island, and the Westchester and Rockland counties as a separate 51st state, and give the rest of the state (and the Second Amendment promoters) a break.

Point taken.

I was enormously impressed with NY’s commendable fight against the marriage redefinition legislation several years ago, much later than a lot of other less conservative states. It wouldn’t have fallen (by a Republican Senate, even) except for a lot of compromises and deceit on the left’s part. That R’s could hold at least one house of the legislature in a state dominated by NYC is impressive.

One building in NYC cancels out the Conservative votes in my whole little town of Stanfordville, NY(my urban born husband explained to me) Off subject: Go Trump.....

Oh Pence has an Oreo at home like I do!

Freepers whether NYC or upstate Texas we are Americans! My Italian parents bought a Malibu station wagon in 76 and drove us across the USA that summer. Nobody had anything nice to say about New Yorkers and I know that is a myth. Like everything else about life there are exceptions. And after this election year well........ Liberalism is a mental disorder is what I am sure of.

The scenery in the CNY area is staggering.

However, Ithaca and NYC destroy the reputation of the state.

“We have an ‘Ithaca’ in Texas. It’s called Austin.”

Wisconsin has, ‘The People’s Republic of Madistan’ but in a lot of ways it pales in comparison to both Austin and Ithaca.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t STRIVING for similar Liberal Evilness, though!

*SPIT*
