Some of ours, and it seems like many of Russia’s.

I don’t know either.

You try to make heads or tails of it, but it’s not easy.

I think the Russia people like having a strong man in power. Right now so do we, so I guess I can’t complain.

Still, if Trump were to play games to try to hang on at the end of eight years, I don’t think I’d support it.

It’s important one many doesn’t get too comfortable there.

“I hate us being a partner with Saudi Arabia...”

As do I. Much of the Islamic world’s terrorism can be traced back directly, or indirectly to Saudi Arabia.
They are the dark center of the Wahhabi/Salafist sect that has radicalized far too much of the Islamic world. They build Mosques and Madrasa around the world and then staff them with Saudi trained Imams. Many of the effete Princes of the House of Saud are likely directly funding the Jihadi movements. There is also evidence they were players in the 9-11 attacks.

The U.S., however, chooses to ignore the Saudi connection while it attacks Mid-East regimes that kept the Jihadis under control (Iraq, Libya, Syria).

Why? Because the Saudis price their oil in dollars. This creates an artificial demand for dollars. The so-called petro-dollar (along with the narco-dollar) allow the U.S. dollar to remain the world’s “reserve” currency.

It’s a very nasty Quid Pro Quo situation.

If the Russians didn’t fire on the planes it means the Israelis cleared the attack with them ahead of time as has happened a few times before.

Why would Russians care to see munitions destroyed? It;s not like they are insured. They'll just sell more!

Perhaps missiles rather than planes?
More updates:
“Syrian state TV quoted the army as saying several rockets were fired from an area near Lake Tiberias in northern Israel just after midnight which landed in the compound of the airport, a major facility for elite Republican Guards and special forces. The airport was rocked by multiple explosions, some of which were captured by social media...”

“The airport southwest of the capital is a major strategic air base used mainly by Syrian elite Republican Guards and had been a base used to fire rockets at former rebel-held areas in the suburbs of Damascus. State television did not give any further details..”

“...In the past, Israel has targeted positions of Lebanon’s Hezbollah group inside Syria where the Iranian-backed group is heavily involved in fighting alongside the Syrian army. According to Israeli breaking, the airport was bombed because it was a “suspected holding ammunition depots for Hezbollah.”
Israeli defence officials have voiced concern that Hizbollah’s experience in the Syrian civil war, where it has played a significant role and recently helped the Syrian army regain the eastern sector of the city of Aleppo, has strengthened it.”

Shia Crescent, weapons to Hezbollah are funneled from Iran through Syria to Hezbollah and in the past, Hamas. That still could be going on, but Syrian Hamas relations took a hit with the Civil War.

MJB is correct .
A country must protect it’s citizens.

Israel does not carry out these night raid for no reason .
When they do this it is because they have found where they are stories weapons that can kill thousands instantly .
They have gases hidden all over the place .

It is absolutely biblical to take out those weapons and whomever is planning and mad men guarding them . Those gases are being used in Syria and the news is silent . Israel can not the chance of them being used across their borders . It is biblical to kill them before they mass murder their people .

It is not as simple as a commandment that says thou shall kill. First it is not kill , that is a bad translation of the Hebrew . It should be thou shalt not murder .

Go back and read the stories in the bible and you will see over and over how God told the Israelites to wipe out certain population and it was to protect them from the murderous activity of those populations. God is no fan of serial murders , we are not talking someone who in a fit of rage kills someone ... we are talking populations that all they do is plot murder and destruction. It is totally biblical and MJB is correct on this .

While I fully support Israel; this Israel also has abortion and recognizes same-sex marriage. That does not seem very Biblical to me.

We have hit a lot of ISIS and Al Qaeda, we have and so have the Kurds we back, they take the brunt of it. We have hit a lot of AQ and ISIS leaders. I rarely hear the Russians doing this, Aleppo wasn’t ISIS, you can not find good sources to say Russia kicked ISIS out of Palmyra. Conspiracies get a bit tiring.

Assad allowed the jihadists to have camps in Syria when we were in Iraq at full force, the jihadists attacked us from Syria, anyone can tell you that. Syria is partners with the Iranians who killed 500 US soldiers per reports. The Iranians run the show in Syria now. I don’t think Iranians or their people are bad, just stating how things are.

Syria has given medals of honor to Hezbollah militants; so, all of those parties are working together, Hez, Iran and Syria. They don’t seem to be a real problem to us but they definitely are to Israel.

Are they really? How do you know? They haven’t been tested very well yet. It’s WAY too early to declare it yet. Many tweaks will likely follow the first combat uses.

All through American history people have declared our weapons to be “POS” at first... New technologies many times start out “flawed.” Only later does it become clear one way or the other. Many of our new weapons were often criticized in WWII and Vietnam only to prove their worth in combat later. Many people decried the B2 Spirit bomber as a “boondoggle.” Now it’s regarded as a major piece of American military power.

There are numerous source articles on FR detailing exactly how terrible the F-35 has turned out to be - all goes way beyond ‘teething problems’ associated with new mil tech such as you referenced.

For what the fixes cost - for the most basic of problems this plane suffers from - they may as well just start over. The more complex ones are in a category of their own and likely simply cannot be fix short of a total redesign.

Definitely sounds like F-35s. If they were not picked up..

Also possible that the Russians were happy to allow it so they could monitor and collect data....probably had all sorts of scanners looking at the whole area to detect whatever could be detected.

Did anyone ever consider that we know Power was telegraphing that the US would veto the measure allowing the others to use their votes to keep their own jihadists quelled? England has come out and said this is what happened and that they were expecting the US to veto it.

Does anyone know the order in which the vote was tallied?

I trust Putin about as far as I could throw an Abrams but what some here call Putin worshipers are merely pointing out the obvious that Putin is one hell of a lot closer to our overall values than Obama has proven out to be. Besides, does anyone think that Putin wants anything to do with having to deal with the nerf herder Palis any more than we or the Arabs do?

The only reason they exist is because of the rise of the King of Jordan at the time kicked them out because they were unmanageable to even them. The Black September group was named because of that September in 1970. Who was their leader, chief terrorist? Yasser Arafat.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_September_Organization

By killing the so-called two state solution, it is now just a matter of time before Israel cedes control of Gaza, which they never wanted except as a buffer to Egypt, to the Egyptians as they are just as eager to clean up that cesspool dragging them down as well. Once they get the freedom to clean out the Sinai, things will begin to stabilize for them as well.

Where do the Palis go? That is their problem. I suspect they will migrate down the Sinai and start to infiltrate into Saud.which will usher in the final outward fight between the Sunni and Shiite. Gosh, there are so many dominoes getting ready to be knocked down when I think about it.

With the Rial tanking big-time as it is now, this new administration will bring its instability to certain failure and then we will see what was seen as the Green Revolution rise again and finally the Persians will take control and finally give them the representative republic that was promised if they supported the fall of the Shah. I was there (72-74) and they existed peacefully with us and the Soviets and I suspect that will happen again.
