Holy hell. I have a house on 6.5 acres in MA and I’m not paying anything close to that.

$8500 would pay the property taxes on my main home and my winter home and still leave us with enough to take a vacation to Hawaii or Europe. And I don't have run down shacks either. My main home is in a gated community and my winter home is in one of the more desirable neighborhoods.

The reason for the high property taxes is that every little town here has its own school district, its own police department, etc.
