I would imagine that avocado growers, as well as the producers of all the other goods subject to the Mexican Tariff, in this country and increased supply chains within the United States will prosper as a result.
American avocados first.
I wonder what the impact would be on American food (Spam, liverwurst & bologna, pretzels, beef/pork/poultry)...you know, things Americans eat? /s
I wish they would talk about the billions we will save by ejecting all the illegals.
Gee what if we got rid of the federal gas tax or all the other taxes there are.
“The cost for that wall will temporarily be borne by Americans.” False. This is the fallacy called argumentum ad misericordiam and appeal to pity. “Don’t give me an F on my test; my dog just died.” “Don’t build a wall; guacamole will be too expensive.” The logical response is to say that Mexico will pay the wall and 20% inflation on Mexican products will force us to be thrifty and make our own guacamole.
I pay a buck for avocados and they come from CA, Peru and Chile.
When they’re not on sale they cost $1.59 and I don’t buy them.
It’s always a smart thing to base your entire multi multi billion dollar trade and tariff policy decisions on the cost of an exotic fruit. /sarc
So many go on and on about the veggies and fruit being cheaper at Mexican food stores. That may be true but those store are not clean and the produce is crappy
Spot on.
California avoados are FAR superior to Meheeco’s poo watered ones.
You can make your own chips by cutting up corn chips and frying them.

Do the Mexicans charge extra for the E. Coli they ship North?
Saying consumers will pay ALL of the tax is as silly as saying the consumer will pay NONE of the tax.

For 30 plus years I have paid more for California or Florida fruit and vegetables, sometimes Arizona rather than buy any produce from Mexico.
I will continue to do so. Yes, sometimes it costs more.
Avocados grow very well in CA.
Right!
Lower taxes, less crime, less fake votes, less drunk driving. So I spend more for lettuce and avocados. SO WHAT!!
Selective outrage. How about not paying to educate 2 million of their offspring. Sounds like a major cost saving to me.
Apparently it is possible to grow Avocados indoors. I remember my sister putting toothpicks in the seed and balancing it on a glass of water to too it. It worked, but I don’t know how long it would take for it to bear fruit.
I think most of us will learn to live without occasional Mexican explosive diarrhea.
