A tax on imported goods is a tax on US taxpayers. I would rather see a heavy tax on remittances to Mexico. That is money taken out of our economy, much of it through illegal labor, and put into the Mexican economy.

I think America is fed up with 90 million unemployed and will willing pay a 20% tariff. The upside is huge and prices won't stay up that long.

How long before avocado production ramps up in CA and AZ behind a built in 20% profit margin.

Once Uncle Sam gets addicted to the revenues tariffs bring in then they will become permanent. Which is a good thing in the long run.
