UC Riverside Student Leaders Vote To Ban Sabra Hummus [More for the BDS efforrt

The Associated Students of University of California – Riverside voted on Wednesday night to remove Sabra Hummus from all campus dining services, The Highlander reports.

Student leaders voted 13-0-1 in favor of the resolution to kick Sabra Hummus off campus. Sabra’s joint owner, the Strauss Group, is the largest food products company in Israel and has financially supported the Israeli military, according to the New York Times.

Students who supported the measure were “troubled” by funds that could potentially go to Israeli settlements by purchasing Sabra Hummus in their campus cafeteria.

UC Riverside said in a statement released on Thursday: “The University has no plans to change brands offered for sale or consumption in its stores and dining facilities. We remind all that the UCR Principles of Community apply.”

This isn’t the first time the southern California campus has experienced this issue either, a university spokesman told The Daily Caller. In 2015, UC Riverside initially replaced the Sabra brand with a a gluten-free alternative called “Tapaz 2 g0” in compliance with student demand, without realizing the underlying political issue, according to the Los Angeles Times. The university later called their decision a “mistake” and offered the Sabra brand along with the gluten-free alternative.

The Sabra Hummus boycott has been an ongoing issue that isn’t unique to UC Riverside’s campus. Palestinian students and supporters at Princeton University and DePaul University challenged Sabra’s chick-pea dip in 2010.

And here I was excited thinking they actually banned something Moslem. I don’t think Israel when I think hummus.

We are really, really spoiled if we can choose to buy - or not buy - food based on politics - country of origin - etc.

People are not hungry enough.

Hungry people eat bugs and song birds and leaves, without asking what religion they practice.

Marxism and Nazism have been even more cruel, numbers-wise.

What a brutal history for such a small group.

It’s heartbreaking.

I just checked the availability at WalMart. It is in-store only but at least I’ll check it out at my WalMart store 12 miles away. The flavors looked interesting. I’ll have to check out the nutritional value next.

Not to worry Rose.......I’m long in the tooth myself but I have faith that there’s the possibility our country will turn around.......maybe not to the point as it was when we were growing up, too much water has run under that proverbial bridge but enough that our grands will have at least something of a tolerable country economically if nothing else. Strong and faithful family life will I hope lessen the sting of a society in the crapper.

Uh oh.

They might be connected with Frito Lay/Pepsi.

Here’s a good recipe though:

The student “leaders” are either stupider than cowchips or islamonazi “foreign students” -( enemy agents) —— either way they’ve disgraced themselves and California by this sickening action. Please governor Brown clean house on your state’s taxpayer- subsidized campuses.

"To be fair, they are American first"

Leftist Jews are not American first. They are Leftist first and hate America, just like non-Jewish Leftists.

Sabra hummus is very good. Just pick the fresh dates packages and choose your favorite flavors. And it’s healthy for you too. We have four big ones right now in the fridge.

Everyone is turning in Israel. It’s Biblical. Glad we finally have someone in the White House who supports Israel.

One of my favorite brands. They had a fairly substantial product recall last year, and briefly disappeared from Publix. Now, they are back and Publix has a special this week. Think I’ll stock up.

I buy it because it is a delicious way to get fiber.

Sabra and celery. Yummy

The BDS movement is an old form of Communist “Economic Warfare”, similar in strategy/tactics to the Communist Party’s “blacklist” pogroms in Hollywood that started in the 1930’s.

See Alan Ryskind’s masterful book, “Hollywood Traitors” that came out a few years ago.

Once you read it, you will understand where the jihadists, Fatah/Hamas/Hezbollah campus crowds got their training and marching order.

Sabra Hummus is excellent, but if you eat a lot of hummus (I do), it's easy and cheap to make.

I use creamy peanut butter instead of tahini.

It’s not enough that they don’t want to buy it, but they want to make sure no one else can buy it either. That’s liberalism in a nutshell.

I wonder if sunflour butter would work? My kid has a mild peanut allergy.
