Trump will be barred from speaking in Parliament

LONDON — House of Commons Speaker John Bercow has announced that he intends to block US President Donald Trump from addressing Parliament when Trump visits the UK later this year.

It is customary for visiting presidents to address MPs and members of the House of Lords in Westminster Hall when making state visits to Britain.

As speaker of the House of Commons, however, Bercow is one of three people who has the authority to block visiting figures from doing this.

The speaker said on Monday afternoon that addressing Parliament was an "earned honour" and not an invitation that came automatically with a state visit.

He said:

"What I will say is this. An address by a foreign leader to both Houses of Parliament is not an automatic right. It is an earned honour. Moreover, there are many precedents for state visits to take place to our country which do not include an address to both Houses of Parliament. That's the first point.

"In relation to Westminster Hall, there are three key holders to Westminster Hall: the speaker of the House of Commons, the speaker of the House of Lords and the lord great chamberlain. Ordinarily we are able to work by consensus and the hall would be used for a purpose such as an address or another purpose by agreement of the three key holders.

"I must say to the honourable gentleman, to all who signed his early day motion and to others with strong views about this matter on either side of the argument, that before the imposition of the migrant ban I would myself have been strongly opposed to an address by President Trump in Westminster Hall. After the imposition of the migrant ban by President Trump I am even more strongly opposed to an address...

Come on, you all!!!! You voted for Brexit—USE IT to keep the Muhammadans out of Britain, or else there’s little point to it!!!!!

And from that point of view, President Trump has indeed earned the right to speak before Parliament!!!!

PHOOEY!!!!

Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton addressed both Houses of Parliament, but not in Westminster Hall.

Seriously, it is time to write Britain off, and let them flounder in the surf at the treatment plant.

Think u are on to something.

The Brits are worried about massive Muslim protesters.
Muslims rule the once great British Empire.

You should never wound the King if you intend to kill him.

Like it or not, Trump is the Leader of the Free World.

Diss him at your own peril Brits.

He really shouldn’t visit, because now all the MSM propaganda will highlight the “snub” by Parliament. Articles before, during, and after his visit would make a big deal of this. THey will try to play it up even if he doesn’t visit, ofc, but he should not give them more visibility by making the visit.

Sorry, UK friends, your idiot pols have taken your issues off our front burner and you are no longer “at the head of the line” for trade issues etc.

Maybe he should cancel. He has said he planned to be much more domestically focused the first two years. I suspect he is going to ignore their carping, and give them a sweet assed trade deal in return for going ahead with Brexit, and the carping labours people, who have about as much power as the democrats now, can go shove it. That’s my prediction.

I think Prez. Trump should cancel his visit. Prince Charles is supposedly all het up to give him a dressing down on global warming, and he’ll probably HAVE to kiss Camilla (ugh). Instead, invite the Queen over here...still have a soft spot for the Queen.
