Community College offers a two year Associate college degree, which includes the full range of basic (English 101/102; History, Geography, and various Math courses) college credits needed to get a Bachelors Degree at any University. Community College is NOT just a Trade School!

Any student who wants to find out if they qualify for the Pell Grant or other financial aid can fill out a FAFSA form, and by using their income/family income, if living at home. That will also get their state to input any state grants available to them. You would be surprised how many quality especially in this economic era.

I’m well aware of Community College benefits. My middle child went while working part time. Afterwards, her employer paid for her Bachelors.
I’m just saying that it’s not for everyone. Many know-it-all liberals tout college for everyone but it’s not. I’ve argued with many about Trade school instead and have been denigrated.

Do NOT allow a ‘teacher’ of a class to mandate using a TEXTBOOK he/she has written for that class!

I support CC, because I know firsthand that curriculum is first and politics almost non existent in class. I find those students who go to CC first do well in University. Yes, I agree NOT all should go to a Bachelors/Graduate. There are all varieties of healthcare certificates up to RN, and the many choices are a way to make a living once out of high school.

My point was so many think CC is only about Trade or Certification programs. It is a huge savings for those who plan to go further. The basics are same whether gotten at CC or Univ. An employer looks at where you got your last degree, be it Bachelors, Masters, or PHD.

Hopefully, more struggling students will realize the value of local CCs. The cost of student loan debts are overwhelming.

Thanks for bringing it up.
