“I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of an independent California,” Geoff Lewis said as he stood in a glass-walled conference room adorned with California’s grizzly-bear flag and a sign reading “California is a nation, not a state.”

Would that mean that CA would have to pay to fix its own infrastructure? And keep its invaders there?

California is neither a state nor a nation. It is merely the world’s largest open-air lunatic asylum.

“It’s funny how for years a similar movement in Texas was lampooned, and routinely harassed by the law,”

Texas could actually pull it off though. California is too deep in debt to do a damned thing without the USA taxpayer picking up the tab

OK, I’ll reply to you....

I remember noticing this pattern when I lived in Arizona. Nearly every time you’d watch the news and see a wanted criminal, that person was Hispanic. You’d occasionally see wanted criminals of other races, but not that often.

Yet another fact we’re expected to ignore.

Sure, just say goodbye to all Federal lands, installations and real estate within your state boundaries. Have fun with half of what you have now.

The way the weather is going here, they may get their wish, but not the way they wanted it.

Be careful what you pray for.

Balance their income against liabilities and they aren’t even close to a first world economy. They rank among third world countries in Africa

Do they realize that leaving the USA will make them ineligible for federal funds?

Oh man! I am so gonna steal that! Hope you don't mind...

It would make a great tagline too.

I say let them go..that way we don’t have to pay for the vast majority of bad American bridges which are in California nor do we have to rebuild that dam that they knew was failing six years ago.....and think of the bucks we could save on welfare!!!!!

I wouldn’t want to see California secede, but I wouldn’t cry if North Korea hit LA, San Fran and Sacramento with missiles. They’d be doing us a favor.

Good point. Not that it will happen but the only area that stand a chance is a 20 mile stretch from the ocean inland in the areas of San Diego to Santa Barbara then the Bay Area but not including Oakland and only to the south end of the San Jose city line.

Again, no way it will happen for a hundred good reasons, but those areas are the most liberal hot spots in the state. There are other areas of high Hispanic populations that want to see it secede so it can become part of Mexico but that’s a pipe dream or war talk depending on how serious they are.

I lived in San Diego for 20 years and loved it for the first 11 then gradually as the population changed in both density and demographics it got worse and worse until I saw an opportunity to leave so I did. I’ve been back a handful of times and am so glad to be gone from there now. SD is just another LA at this point. Sad and just not right. I don’t see how it can ever be fixed. It’s a gonner but it still needs to be controlled.

Not Illinois. Chicago. Illinois outside of Chicago is a red state. Most of the state outside of Chicago and Champaign (university town) is conservative.
