Syrias Kurds offer a glimmer of hope in a region otherwise defined by death and destruction
ANALYSIS/OPINION:
With every beheading, crucifixion and execution, Judeo-Christian civilization is under assault. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Middle East, where non-Muslims who encounter the rapid advance of the Islamic State face a cruel choice: confrontation, subjugation, or annihilation.
Until recently, ISIS has achieved success spreading its militant Islamic creed. The Wests politically correct response some of its leaders, including President Obama, refuse even to link the Islamic State to Islam has only emboldened ISIS and aided its propaganda and recruiting efforts.
But there is a glimmer of hope in a region otherwise defined by death and destruction. Syrias Kurds are fiercely resisting ISIS and have staunchly aligned themselves with America and the West. The Kurds are a multi-ethnic Muslim people territorially trapped between warring Islamic factions. Among them are the brave men and women of Syrian Kurdistan or Rojava meaning, in Kurdish, West.

Simple works. Yes, the devil is often in the details. But sometimes details cause inaction and failure.
We have ABSOLUTELY NO DOG IN THAT FIGHT!! None!!
Will you or your son/daughter be enlisting for that fight?
We already are supporting the Syrian Kurds.
Texas Fossil is not too old to go his own self.
Git over there if you want some faction of Mohammedan to have Americans helping them in their eternal wars.
NO, but we have some there now already. last figure I heard was 500, mostly Special Ops.
Today I saw indication that the number is higher now with additions around Efrin & another town, because of Turkey’s assaults. (strange act)
I became involved in this when seige of Kobani took place. About 2-1/2 years ago. I don’t know the impact but I begged and pleaded for US to give them air support against the ISIS butchers who were about to exterminate them all. It was mostly defended by women, amazing. With some air support and dropping some supplies they managed to survive.
I admit the neighborhood is a can of worms. Unfortunately US attempts under Obama to unseat Assad had created a monster. (Assad is not a good guy, ISIS are inhuman horrible baby butchers)
So, we are here.
What is your perspective. Have you been watching it?
We have not had a draft for a long time. So what I think does not cause mom’s to loose their sons.
Bauer’s appeal is not to the government, but to American Christians.
Some are muslim. Others are Azidi and Christians. The percentages vary by nation they are in and by local community. In Northern Syria, there is a fairly high Christian percentage in some communities.
We didn’t, until the Obama administration decided to assist the Turkish government in targeting and exterminating the Kurds using US assets.
Support does not necessarily mean direct involvement.
Oh but we do. We cannot allow ISIS to go unchecked.
Just make sure Kurdistan includes parts of Iran.
Oh!but here is an idea for you to ponder!! We kill ISIS!!~ To hell with the Kurds!!
BTW,Praise JESUS!!!
I don’t care about anything but AMERICA. I am finished with this save the world crap. I will not die for the kurds!!
You know, many Kurds are muslims.
Some are Shia and some are Sunni and they have allegiances to their sects as well as their various and sundry tribes.
FYI
Yes, some are. They are not uniform, it depends on the country they are in and the community. Northern Syrian Kurds vary quite a lot. The Shia/Sunni divide is largely between Iraq & Iran. The N. Syrian Kurds are more secular, there are a number of religions held by various Kurds.
I know some of them pretty well. Have had frequent conversations over past 2-1/2 years. They are not strangers any longer.
Most of the killing during the Armenian Genocide was done by the Kurds so as a Christian I don’t feel I owe them any help.
Kurdish recognition of the Armenian genocide

Fairly honest evaluation of the Genocides. To this day, Turkey denies it ever happened. Early on, individual Kurdish leaders recognized it as genocide and admitted partial guilt. Some attempts were made at punishment.
I had 2 great uncles who fought in WWI. The last one died about 20 years ago at 99. It was a horror. Those 2 went to Spain and brought back mules to move artillery, fed and watered the mules and used them to position equipment. Hard to imagine now.
