President Donald Trump does not believe FBI director James Comey’s insistence that Trump Tower was not wiretapped, a White House spokeswoman has said.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, deputy communications director, was asked whether Mr Trump believed Mr Comey’s denial.
"No, I don't think he does," she told Good Morning America, on Monday morning.
She said the president "wants the truth to come out to the American people,” adding: “He is asking that it be done through the House Intelligence Committee, and that that be the process that we go through."
She added that as president, Mr Trump "has information and intelligence that the rest of us do not."
On Saturday Mr Trump accused Barack Obama of ordering a wiretap to be placed inside Trump Tower before the election.
On Sunday the New York Times reported that Mr Comey said that the FBI had never tapped the building, and had asked the department of justice to issue a statement denying the tapping. They have yet to do so.
Mrs Huckabee Sanders was asked on a second breakfast show whether Mr Trump had received the information via the media.
"The president firmly believes that the Obama administration may have tapped into the phones at Trump Tower and that this is something that we should look into," she said. "We'd like to know for sure."
She then turned to attack the media for its reporting of his administration.
"The media has been extremely dismissive of this reporting and this potential story while all the while being very happy to jump on all of the false attacks that have been launched at this president. " she said.
"All we're asking for is a fair and same look at this potential story and to let the House Intelligence Committee do their job."

Maybe they are trying to make him some kind of “target” of an ongoing investigation.
He is REALLY draining the swamp, from top to bottom!
The FBI has made NO statement about this matter.
McCabe and Comey continue to slither about.

Come says, they never “wiretapped the building.” I call that another non-denial denial.
I asked my four-year-old son once if he was the one who got into my toolbox and scattered my tools. His response was nearly as good as what we’re hearing from he press and previous administration (redundancy?). His answer: “I didn’t see me do it.”
Yeah, that’s about it.

The “birther” thing showed that Trump was the ONLY guy to stand up to Obama and call his bluff, and force him to produce “something” (probably not authentic, but Obama finally had to respond to the issue because of Trump).
Trump is still the only one to stand up to Obama and keep standing.
That’s the first thought.
Second thought. Do you think Pence has that kind of resolve? If not, for 2024, we need to find the guy who DOES have that kind of resolve and fearlessness.
He is the President of the United States and has unlimited access to all federal records including FISA applications and warrants. We know there was wiretapping going on. If there isn’t a FISA record detailing said wiretapping, somebody is gonna’ have some splainin’ to do.
Joe DeGenova and Jay Sekulow are on with Hannity and they’re laying this at Comey’s feet. De Genova thinks he has a screw loose and he HAS to go. I just don’t understand why Trump kept him. As Joe said ,all this guy has done is interfere in the election.
