AT&T wireless customers throughout large parts of the country and in the state of Florida are unable to call 911 due to a technical problem.
The cause of the problem is unknown but officials both locally and throughout the southeast are working to fix the issue with AT&T, which is one of the largest wireless carriers in the nation.
Currently, AT&T says the problem is affecting customers in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee, according to the Orange County officials. Each county has set up backup phone numbers so residents can reach first responders.
In Orange County, residents needing help can call 407-836-4357. If you live within city limits of Orlando, call 407-836-9919.
In Seminole County, residents can call 407-665-6650. If residents needing help call any of the above numbers, a dispatcher can transfer you to the correct agency, officials said.
In Orange County, the problem was discovered about 6 p.m. when someone had a medical issue.

From what my dad told me years ago the actual database for 911 centers was in Florida or at least the earlier versions of it that gave out callers address was located there. He was a Bell Tech and worked on data circuits and 911 circuits.
You can add Nevada to the list.
Gun sales skyrocket tomorrow....
Always load weapon and holster before dialing 9111.
My bet is the CIA and Barky working again...
The Day Without a Woman protest hit AT&T especially hard.
