Protecting American jobs was a signature theme of President Donald Trumps Make America Great Again campaign. A frequent target of candidate Trump was the H-1B visa program. The program, created more than 25 years ago, allows American companies to fill gaps in the workforce from overseas with highly skilled employees, who cant be found in the U.S. Many businesses use the program as intended, but we discovered more and more are taking advantage of loopholes in the law to fire American workers and replace them with younger, cheaper, temporary foreign workers with H-1B visas. But before the American workers walk out the door they often face the humiliating prospect of having to train the people taking their jobs.

Yep.
My secret weapon is asking “stupid” questions, BTW.
One thing I’m seeing more lately, that’s pissing me off, is people who used to be “devs” now doing PM or BA work. You understand why, yes?
> asking stupid questions

I will throw this out: I was a COBOL developer for 21 years. Often, at different companies, when discussing requrements with the internal customer, people would say, “you don’t sound like a programmer.” They meant it as a compliment. My goal was always to find out WHY they wanted stuff done, what pains they were trying to eliminate, etc. I’d put on my developer’s hat afterward, though I did consider the technical ramifications of some of the stuff they needed.
