The chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee told a Thursday forum at the Washington-based watchdog Judicial Watch that starting April 1 his committee and staff will hold President Donald Trump and his administration accountable for producing requested documents. I would hope the new president would get more aggressive and demand that these departments and agencies provide the documents that Congress is seeking, said Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), who took over the committee at the start of the previous session of Congress. I dont think they are off to a good start.
Up until the end of March, the chairman said he indulged the Trump administrations need to settle in, he said.
The chairman was careful to note that regarding new requests the committee sent to the administration, the response has been prompt and cooperative, such as with inquiries into the Government Services Administration lease of the Old Post Office building to the Trump Organization, now operating the Trump International Hotel there. That was disposed of right on time.
Chaffetz said that all requests to the President Barack Obama administration are still active, and before the inauguration, he sent a letter to then-incoming White House Counsel Donald McGahn informing him that he expected the Trump administration to have a better record complying with congressional requests than Obamas. We expect these to be fulfilled.

Hatch came out last week and said that he would step down and not run if Romney wanted to run for the seat...you see the play there???
He didn’t have the b@lls to take on obummer now he’s pretending it’s Trump’s fault. Pathetic!
That’s come conversion!!! He’s probably getting advice from his cronies.
The âdelayâ precedence was set by the odumbo administration, too bad Chaffetz wasn’t more authoritative back when odumbo’s ilk was in office.
How would you like to be in a foxhole with POS Chaffetz? This guy is all for doing the MSM bidding when it comes to going after republicans, but nary a word against the democRATS.
Don’t forget these pathetic scoundrels are going to spend a whole lot of time vacationing in the next two months.
Chaffetz has a lot of nerve wanting Trump to hurry up. I would also tell this moron that we are being held up because you have failed to put through my cabinet appointees.
Chaffetz says that Trump has supplied all requests since he got into office. It sounds like he is after stuff that was requested from Obama and never delivered. I don’t see why the Trump admin would want to stonewall that since the requested docs are likely embarrassing to the Obama admin.
I think Chaffetz may be doing Trump a favor here. He is talking about requests that were made to the Obama administration and ignored. Pro-Obama bureaucrats are infested throughout the bureaucracy and no doubt have no intention of producing what has been requested. So by pushing the White House, he may be just giving them a nudge to take control of the darn government. IDK of course but that sounds like a possibility to me.
If various government employees continue to stone wall and obstruct Congressional investigations, Trump has a legit process within civil service rule to fire, discipline and possibly prosecute those individuals.
The process is called letting people smoke themselves out and hang themselves.
Yup. They are a lazy group
Jason Chafetzz has turned out to be a major effing disappointment.
Whoa... I don't mean to offend anyone, but the dude squandered his birthright of a real, legitimate religion with a real, living deity to go to the planet Golob?
There's something going on there.
Not unprecedented though, a former congresscreature from my state was a Baptist and made the same move...
There was something going on there, too, his name still pops up now and then, something about lobbying.

The “new president”? This is total DC-swamp-committee-member-speak. This guy is a total snake.
It all depends upon 12 men in Salt Lake City.
