Ruining someone's name is very easy. So is calling them a "racist." Take the case of Ty Cobb, one of the greatest baseball players ever. Cobb is known as a racist and a dirty ballplayer. Is it true? Charles Leerhsen, author of "Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty" sets the record straight.

Kinda nice to read a positive story. Thanks for posting.
US Grant is another guy who gets a bad rap. The guy who wrote a biography on Grant was a sworn enemy out to trash the man. As with Cobb, the enemy’s fake stories stuck.
Cobb was from Georgia and uneducated. The northerners could not handle his greatness. Just like they could not handle Joe Jackson.
Dennis Prager practically stole this from an article in Imprimis about a year ago.
I’m reading Ron White’s biography on Grant and while he wasn’t a teetotaler, he most certainly wasn’t a drunk either. Early in military career, he was in charge of temperance in his unit.
I loved the book—I read it when it came out and bought it for my four sons for their libraries (We are all book nerds). All my boys grew up loving baseball and we even went to baseball card conventions to get signatures of some of the retired greats.
The Left (Marxists) demean all our heroes—on purpose. They are trying to destroy the Christian ideal of “Great” males, so they need to destroy the real masculine ones. The leaders. That is why the Alpha Trump is SOOOOO hated by Leftists.
It is why McCarthy was destroyed. He was a brilliant lawyer and speaker and powerful. The press repeated lies and made him look bad with edited footage of a person who lied about what he was stating “Have you no shame?” which was played over and over to control emotions and perceptions of the masses and it WORKED.
He was just pointing out the “Truth” and because he was uncovering the communist infiltration—just a fraction of the REAL infiltration, as the Venona papers proved—he had to be demeaned and controlled by the press. He was ruined by the repeated lies in the MSM (M. Stanton Evans—Blacklisted by History, the Truth Story of Sen. Joseph McCarthy).
Truth and Virtue is extremely dangerous to the Leftists who promote Lies and Slavery 24/7. All MSM is out to destroy virtue in our childrne—to vulgarize and demean EVERYTHING “GOOD”, esp. the heroes in our culture and to glorify really EVIL, immoral people now.. Look at the “heroes today?” They are puerile, feminized and/or homosexual.
They have to flip Good and Evil to their Satanic occult “faith of “Ba’al worship. They have to embed perceptions that flip Good and Evil. Without Virtue and good Heroes to pass Traditions and Wisdom of the Ages—our children will be ignorant of history. We know what happens to people who forget their history or who think Evil is Good.
Mature (moral) masculine males who THINK FOR THEMSELVES and CAN”T be CONTROLLED-—like Ty Cobb and Joe McCarthy and Donald Trump have to be discredited, demonized so boys don’t emulate them and such leadership.
They want wishy-washy feminized little boy toys so that our civilization collapses. They are trying to make our males like the German (homosexualized) males who allow their women, girls and boys to be raped by the invaders.
The movie starring Arli$$ was a smear job on the order of Mommy Dearest.
No. He was brilliant and his favorite book at age 18 was Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables”. He was a brilliant investor of his money also.
His father taught history-—and Ty Cobb, as a kid loved to read. His father being shot by his mother was a major factor in his “anger” if people teased him which was understandable.
This guy was at hillsdale earlier. I should get the book. Ty Cobb was my childhood hero. Glad i never really believed the bad stuff. Watch his hands on the bat. He had an open grip that gave him control of the bat and then if he wanted to power stroke the ball he would slide his hands together.
I thought it was the same article. It isn’t?
No, here is the Imprimis article:

Thanks. I saw that quite a while back but it is worth re-reading.
“Dennis Prager practically stole this from an article in Imprimis about a year ago”
No, the author of the article in both cases is the same guy. His work is just presented in another format, trying to get the info out there.
Give Dennis a bit of credit, please.
I once saw a conversation between Groucho Marx and Casey Stengel. When asked who was the greatest ever, Stengel replied, “Tyrus Raymond Cobb. No one else was even close”.
Groucho agreed.

Stories like this need to be repeated, over and over.
It is why McCarthy was destroyed. He was a brilliant lawyer and speaker and powerful. The press repeated lies and made him look bad with edited footage of a person who lied about what he was stating Have you no shame? which was played over and over to control emotions and perceptions of the masses and it WORKED.
Exactly correct. It worked, and the Establishment Media learned that it was they who had the power and control in the United States. No politician could stand before them. They decided the agenda and what was a scandal and what was not.
A few years later they deposed President Nixon in a media coup called Watergate.
That is one of the things I liked about William F. Buckley. He always defended the red hunter.
“Cobb was from Georgia and uneducated. “
Ty Cobb’s father was a Georgia state senator. Ty Cobb was hardly uneducated.
Except he wasn’t much of a red hunter. He pretended to be in the same league as Whittaker Chambers and Elizabeth Bentley, both of whom had done major damage to the Soviet spy networks, outing real spies.
