Senate GOP 'goes nuclear,' clearing way for Trump court pick

Republicans invoked the "nuclear option" in the Senate Thursday, unilaterally rewriting the chamber's rules to allow President Donald Trump's nominee to ascend to the Supreme Court.

Furious Democrats objected until the end, but their efforts to block Judge Neil Gorsuch failed as expected. Lawmakers of both parties bemoaned the long-term implications for the Senate, the court and the country....

The Republicans were practically begging the dems not to do this. This is so dumb on the dems part. Letting Gorsich get approved without a filibuster would've given them some leverage next nomination.

Actually, I'm not sure this is good. A real lot of Republicans in DC are phonies. Now they'll be able to reach 50 without depending on conservatives. We have to hope that Trump stays firm if anyone else comes up, he chooses a pro-Constitution conservative.

I read a figure earlier in the week that stated the dems have used in nuclear option 11 times.
