THE tech giant is working on a job site called Google Hire, which could let prospective employers snoop your embarrassing search history.
IN THIS day and age, every boss is going to quickly Google a prospective employee before asking them to come in for an interview.
But now the technology giant is working on project called Google Hire, which The Sun reports will help employers learn perhaps a little bit too much about their new recruits. It will reportedly be a recruitment tool similar to LinkedIn however, early reports suggest it will be available through your personal Google account. If thats the case, it will link things like your search history and YouTube account with your job applications, laying it all bare for employers to see.

Do your instructions apply only to Google Chrome browser?
My understanding is Google collects information on any Google search engine request regardless of browser, that is, Internet Explorer or Firefox users history is collected regardless of their history privacy settings. Right?
The same danger applies if you’re applying for jobs through Facebook’s new Jobs feature.
Good move!
Nope... don't think so.
Bfl
If they are really working on this, they must think they are bulletproof.
NOT your browser.
And you really think that deletes it from Google’s servers or that never got captured when Google received your search request?!
Thanks for the links.
No, I remember scroogle.. it was shut down BY Google. Startpage is the same as the original Ixquick (same people, different search formula).
No job is worth this type of arrogant intrusion.
Stop using Google.
The worlds MOST PRIVATE search engine.

That is a better choice than google...yep.
It uses Google, it doesn’t reveal the original searcher to them.
>>> This invasion of privacy by Google is exactly why my new Android smartphone is turned off and sitting in a drawer forever. Sadly, I learned after the 14-day return period that you must create a Google account for full functionality. Not gonna happen. Ive been shopping for a flip phone or a BlackBerry while paying a ridiculous amount monthly for something I cant use.
Wow. If you insist upon a modern phone w/ Internet functionality, you’d likely be unsatisfied w/ the flip phone... hitting the same keys repeatedly for text, for instance, therefore the advice from a previous poster may be the way to go.
My better half & I both have prepaid cells, as we use them mostly for emergency contact/ errand running. His Tracfone w/ AT&T svc is actually cheaper to run (minutes being relatively expensive) & he keeps internet/text turned off. However, he takes the time to shop for the doubled minutes deals. I love my Sansui flip for what it is, Verizon svc available in areas where his Tracfone just shuts down.
I dread the day a potential employee suspiciously asks what I’m hiding when I respond, “What social network accounts?” as I have none. That is what it seems to be coming to these days.
All true. We may try prepaid once our current Verizon contract ends in June, depending on coverage (important!) and unlimited phone and text. Now there’s no happy medium between flip phone and smartphone.
Actually, I DON’T insist upon a modern phone w/internet functionality. When I tried to return the phone I WANTED to reactivate my flip phone and was met with a brick wall. Saleskid said, “You won’t be happy with a flip phone.” How does a pipsqueak younger than some of my panty hose know what would make me happy?
I don’t do social networking. I use the camera maybe once a month so don’t care about that. I don’t do gaming. I don’t and won’t email on a device.
I mostly phone and text, but I do a lot of that since my family is spread across the country and we buy unlimited service. Having been a production typist I find it MUCH faster and easier to double- and triple-tap on a flip phone than use a virtual keyboard. With tactile, I don’t have to look at the keys and the results are accurate.
The BB Classic was the best of both worlds. Besides phone, text, and tactile keyboard, I had GPS (excellent GPS!) and weather. GPS and weather are important to me. If I wanted to go online to read FR or such, I could do it but I never had to create an account with anything like Google; it was through the VZ network and not as invasive (evil?) as Google.
Thank you for a clear explanation.
It appears I’ll have to download and use Chrome to go through the activity you described.
I’m a Firefox user, so to get rid of Chrome when done, I’ll use Win 7’s Restore feature to re-establish the system to the day before which should get rid of chrome as though it was never there and restore Firefox.
They are going to be mighty bored when they look at mine. Thousands of recipe and computer code searches.
I have a Samsung Note 3, anything I google from it shows up in the new news feeds on the google search. Caught some good ones to use on other areas besides politics. So they are already doing it.
You look at an item from any store, and it will show up on the next page you access, FR is one of the Rare exceptions.
Keep your cookies cleaned out daily is all I can advise on this, computer tech is my husband and step daughter’s area of expertise, he taught it she owns her own IT business. And run your Malware/spyware often.
