3 Bills Sen. Mike Lee Thinks Could Shift Power ‘Back to the People’

Over the past eight decades, Congress has gradually relinquished its lawmaking role and left it to the administrative state, said a conservative senator at a Capitol Hill event on Wednesday.

“Many Americans now feel that they are not in control of their own government,” Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said during an event hosted at the Federalist Society’s fifth annual Executive Branch Review Conference. “The administrative state is designed to be insulated from the will of the people.”

The Utah senator said that one way he is working to combat this phenomenon is through an initiative he has started called Article One Project.

“Our goal is to develop and advance and hopefully enact an agenda of structural reforms that will strengthen Congress by reclaiming the legislative powers that have been ceded to the executive branch,” Lee said.

Lee said that lawmakers are to blame for the shift in power.

“We are not, in fact, the victims, we are the perpetrators,” Lee said, adding:

If my memory is correct I think Mike Lee as a anti-Trumper. If so I wonder where he stands today.

Isn’t this the same useless piece of garbage that wanted Merick Garland for FBI director?

Yeah, shut the Hell up, Mikey, you punk.

Does anyone know if Mark Levin criticized Lee saying Garland should replace Comey?

I know Mitch McConnell wanted Garland. Maybe Mike too? If so what a bunch of losers and what a steep path we have to climb. So many idiots in the Republican camp.

Lee is an anti-Trumper who has been ever more exposing himself as a loser and a loon. Too bad.

It was indeed him. And now I hear Trump is thinking of nominating Joe Leiberman of the infamous Sore Loserman ticket. Al gore’s VP... If that is really true, Good God!

The GOP seems comprised entirely of morons, idiots and fools.

The three bills he's talking about look reasonable to me.

I've always liked Mike Lee. He is a conservative, has a great mind and gets an A at the conservative review scorecard. I think we should save the vitriol for the likes of Schumer.

To little to late; this country has started down the path to the second civil war! The uniparty and globalist have sealed it's fate with the actions they have taken toward our president! They are playing out a skit on the stage of a country the have used and is for all intents, is dead.

What will come with the next civil war will be laws and actions that will do away with the legislative and judicial hiprocracy; laws that will be harshest for those who have committed treason, and the great miss management of this country's wealth and resources

Do remember him to be anti-Trump. Also seem to remember at one time his name (or his brother) being placed on a short list for Supreme Court Justice. So his preference or loyalty at this time is a complete mystery. The only right answer would be “to himself”. Also vaguely remember he and Cruz are good friends- true/false? To find him to be another Chaffetz would not be surprising. “Our men” not worth a plugged nickel. “Their men” - not worth two cents.

Yep and that is why we will never defeat the likes of Soros and the wave of Blue that is coming.

Idiots that only regurgitate the "all in for Trump" or nothing line (that is displayed by some people) just shows you why we will never defeat well organized leftists with the knife at our throats.

Senator Mike Lee has a 100% rating from Conservative Review, I think the question is better, who stands with Mike Lee?

These are all very good legislative remedies but they would be ever so much better because ever so much permanent if they were to be enacted under Article V, as has been proposed.

Nasty aren’t they. I bet seven years ago they were anti executive order presidency.. they seem to love it now. Amnesty Obamacare bailout and stimulus also. Unprincipled people who I am surprised were able to remove the jelly from their caps lock key this morning.
Trump can’t lead, he just uses executive orders just like obama. No wall by the midterms, it will be a knockout. And one they deserve.
I have never seen any heinous act from mike lee, I follow him and most of the freedom Caucus on twitter. I guess they prefer amnesty, Obamacare and executive orders. #partypimps

Lee -n- Cruz both bought into and believed that dirty dossier that Rick Wilson got punked with last January 2016. Both acted like they were so much holier than Donald Trump would ever be, and both did what they possibly could to derail a Trump victory... I hear the name Lee and I think of Mitt Romney and Evan McMuffin ... of which I consider neither 'conservative'.

Lee is correct on one particular point, Congress has neglected it Constitutional duty and I cannot think of one sitting member of Congress that actually fulfills their 'oath' of office.
