BREAKING: Trey Gowdy Is The New Chairman of The House Oversight Committee

South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy has been chosen as the next chairman of the House Oversight Committee, beating out Oklahoma's Steve Russell for the job.
Gowdy will replace outgoing Chairman Jason Chaffetz of Utah, who announced his retirement from Congress last month. Chaffetz' last day is June 30.

Gowdy puts on a good show but in the end nothing ever happens. That may be the fault of House leadership though. I certainly trust Gowdy a lot more than I do Ryan.

There’s only so much Gowdy or any other Congressional chair can do. The Justice Department needs to take the information from hearings and perform investigations, impanel grand juries, and issue indictments if deemed necessary. This assumes that there is an Executive Branch that really wants to dig into the bureaucracies and drain the swamp.

There’s only so much Gowdy or any other Congressional chair can do. On the contrary, Congress even has its own jail for recalcitrant witnesses. Time to start using it. Koskinen and Lerner should be in there right now.
