So, the government, or for that matter other do-gooders, or even those who think making professional athletes (and entertaining their royalty) is the most important thing a college does), chooses to pay a FAKE PRICE to help a student.
The college pulled that FAKE PRICE out of its behind because it knew would be paid for by OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY, so the student getting it free would not care.
The FREE MARKET is again broken on purpose by government and do-gooders and whoever.
So who pays? It might be the STUDENTS who are normal middle class kids whose parents have enough resources to not qualify for the do-gooders programs.
And it is everyone who pays higher prices later to help students pay off their high student loans they had to get due to fake prices in college.
Baylor example. $600 a credit hour or so added up to sign up for the first semester. a 3 hour per week English class with 100 students for maybe 18 weeks will cost $1800 x 100 = $180,000 for those students to get taught by some teacher who does not even want to teach that class. $10,000 per class. Teacher windfall! Hardly. It gets used for who knows what. Wow! I am in the wrong business, and colleges have zero credibility. I would have taught it for $5,000, only $300 per hour!
the ‘hidden’ issue is the fact that the slots at the 4 year schools are being taken up by ‘free’ students and subsidized students (guaranteed tuition by the state) and the citizens’ children don’t get accepted because the slots are gone..
