Some questions about Hodgkinson

1. Who knew he was going to do this? Is the guy married? If so, where did his wife think he was today? Friends?

2. Did anyone help him?

3. How did he get here? Did he check his rifle on a plane? Did he drive here with the rifle in a car? Did he buy a rifle when he got here? A long car trip would have given him plenty of time to think about his plans. When did he arrive in DC/VA? Has he been here a long time planning this? Did he step off the plane or out of his car this morning? If he has been here more than a few hours, where was he staying? Hotel? With friends?

4. How did he know that the Republicans would be on that field? If it's true that before opening fire he asked if the people were democrats or republicans, then clearly he intended to attack republicans. He wanted to double check before he started shooting. How many people knew that the Rs would be practicing at this time and place? I'm sure it wasn't top secret information, but it also was not, as far as I know, highly publicized info. This indicates a fair amount of premeditation and planning. If you decided you wanted to shoot a bunch of people from one party or the other, where would you go? My guess is that the average schmo would go to the Capitol building. So this indicates to me that he put some effort into finding a time and place where they would be more vulnerable.

5. When did he first hatch this plan? Again, who knew about that?

6. Was he employed or retired? Info I've read says he has/had a construction business. Was he successful? A failure? Was he in debt?

7. Is there evidence that any particular congressman was targeted? By preliminary accounts, it sounds like that might not be the case, that he was just targeting Republicans in general. But if preliminary accounts are wrong, then why did he pick the particular targets he chose? Scalise is not from his home state. Was Scalise a big factor in some particular legislation coming up that this guy did not like? In general, was he trying to prevent some particular legislative action from taking place.

He is (or was) married. He had moved temporarily to the DC area for work while wife stayed in Illinois, though he supposedly was planning to move back soon. He was a home inspector specializing in mold inspection, and while he had lost the business he ran (or left it, it’s unclear), he apparently was still doing similar work. Since he was living in the area, presumably he had plenty of time to learn about the charity baseball game and where the practices were being held. He probably bought the rifle downstate somewhere.

This is THE question that must be answered. How did a guy from Illinois who apparently did not frequent the Washington area know to find Republicans on THAT field?

He asked and was told they were on the field while he was in the parking lot. And charity events are always publicized in advance.

That's my question. I don't want to start rumors and this is just an observation, but I would not be surprised to learn that someone in the Maxine Waters wing of the democrat party somehow communicated with this guy. Fakebook, Twitter, DU, DailyKos or some other platform could have mentioned the ball park.

8. Did he happen to watch “White House Down” last night? It showed on either Spike or Fx I believe.

This happened at what, 5:30 AM? He could have watched it and been “inspired” the previous evening (was on late).

Certainly interesting that I went to bed having watched a Washington D.C. shoot up movie (the shooters were of course Evil Right Wing White Males) and woke up to politically motivated shootings in Washington, D.C.
