Gay Couples Entitled to Equal Treatment on Birth Certificates, Justices Rule
New York Times ^ | June 26, 2017 | Adam Liptak

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday reaffirmed its 2015 decision recognizing a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, ruling that states may not treat married same-sex couples differently from others in issuing birth certificates.

The decision was unsigned. Justice Neil M. Gorsuch, joined by Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr., dissented.

The case concerns an Arkansas law about birth certificates that treats married opposite-sex couples differently from same-sex ones. A husband of a married woman is automatically listed as the father even if he is not the genetic parent. Same-sex spouses are not.

The case, Pavan v. Smith, No. 16-992, was brought by two married lesbian couples who had jointly planned their child’s conception by means of an anonymous sperm donor. State officials listed the biological mother on the children’s birth certificates and refused to list their partners, saying they were not entitled to a husband’s presumption of paternity.

The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled against the women, saying that “it does not violate equal protection to acknowledge basic biological truths.”

Irish law is very specific. No Irish children can be adopted by non Irish citizens. There are no exceptions.

Roberts is not an Irish citizen and he has two Irish kids here in America.

The records are sealed but the theory is that Roberts got two Irish women who had given birth illegitimately to leave Ireland with the kids and travel to South America, and then the children were adopted by Roberts.

So Roberts and Kennedy side with the homosexualization of America once again.

Roberts didn't recuse himself? Shame!

What health issues does Roberts have?

I don’t wish him or anyone ill, but for the good of the country I hope he steps aside for (fill in the blank reason). To spend more time with his illegally adopted children...

Perhaps Epilepsy.

It was reported he had convulsions and was placed on meds.

A person diagnosed with Epilepsy requires lifelong medication.

>>>We can always count on Roberts to do the wrong thing. <<<

If Kennedy retires and replaced by a real conservative, it’ll only embolden the ‘great blackmailed conservative /s’ Roberts to wield Kennedy’s power. He’ll swing the court to the liberal side more than to the conservative side in very important decisions to meet his blackmailers’ wishes and to inflate his ego.

We need to replace one of the liberal justices first. Of course, it depends on who’ll retire first.

Where were the rest of the conservatives?

Oh my goodness, convulsions. Seems constant medication for convulsions would very possibly affect cognitive thinking.

I remember that photo. Provincetown or Fire Island, can’t remember which. Also the first pro bono legal work Roberts did was for Lambda - a homosexual agenda promoting organization. Roberts married at age 40, then (illegally) adopted 2 kids.

He should never have been appointed SCOTUS. It sure would be nice if something could pry him out of there.

"...tell me again..."

I never told you the first time - I have always considered them to be scaliwogs.

"Apparently obvious sarcasm..."

Can't always presume sarcasm.
My wife regularly starts conversations in the middle - so I have to think: "did she already tell me that and I forgot? Or did she just think she told me that?"
