Following the revelation that CNN published fake news about the Trump administration and its alleged ties to Russia after an investigation by Breitbart News, the next head to roll at the embattled media company may be President Jeff Zucker.
AT&T will look to neutralize CNN President Jeff Zucker after it buys Time Warner, the New York Post reported on Wednesday.
The buzz from the telecommunications giant comes as CNN is being slammed for highly publicized missteps, according to three sources familiar with the thinking of AT&T brass, the Post reported.
In the wake of Breitbarts investigation, CNN issued the following retraction:
On June 22, 2017, CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian Direct Investment Fund, CNN said in a statement late Friday night. That story did not meet CNNs editorial standards and has been retracted. Links to the story have been disabled. CNN apologizes to Mr. Scaramucci.
Three journalists responsible for the production of the fake news resigned as a consequence.
But even before the fake news story, CNN was under fire for its journalistic standards or lack thereof. CNN fired host Reza Aslanand and canceled his show, Believer, after he tweeted that President Donald Trump was a piece of sh*t.
The $85 billion acquisition of CNN parent Time Warner by AT&T could win anti-trust approval by the Justice Department in the next 60 days, the Post reported its source revealed.
There was early talk about the way Zucker managed that wasnt a good fit for the new organization, one source said. They were eyeing ways to neutralize him.

AT&T is buying TWX on the strength of the Turner networks and HBO. They need content now that Comcast has it via owning NBC. CNN is only a part of the whole but a visible part, and maybe the leadership at AT&T (some of whom are Trump-friendly) are aware of the potential upside to not pissing off half or more of the potential audience. The opportunity is there to make CNN into what FNC was at it’s best, before the Murdock spawn were turned loose to wreck it.
Say bye-bye, Cuck Zucker!
Zucker tears will be best with morning coffee.
How about "that story was not true and we published it without even checking"
CNN could be ‘spun off’ all by its lonesome if the merger is approved, and it may just be a requirement for approval of the merger by the Justice Department.
If CNN is spun of, it will have to stand and compete all on its own. It will be interesting to watch it collapse in the real world market, if it does not change its ways.............
CNN is to journalism what Dr. Mengele was to medicine.
I can’t touch your excellent summary.
My fingers might get me in a penalty box.
CNN needs to be removed from airports and schools, and then let’s see their bottom line.
Maybe he can have a cup of “Mourning Joe”?
Two excellent paths for our side re the CNN traitors!
1. CNN could be spun off all by its lonesome if the merger is approved, and it may just be a requirement for approval of the merger by the Justice Department.
2. If CNN is spun of, it will have to stand and compete all on its own. It will be interesting to watch it collapse in the real world market, if it does not change its ways.............
Zucker tears will be best with my morning coffee, then with my afternoo sun tea, and then with my evening glass of a good California Red Wine.
AT&T already carries OANN. They should probably just scrap CNN for parts.
CNN needs to be removed from airports and schools, McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s...................
From your lips to God’s ears.
I don’t know about anti-trust approval, but CNN deserves to be restored to its initial reputation at being the best in onsite news— everything from Desert Storm to the OJ freeway chase.
CNN, in the beginning, put every one of us in the cat bird seat to view as-it-happens events, all over the world, 24 hours a day. See how far they have fallen under the increasing political weight.
Now, someone needs to jerk Morning Joe around the collar and escort Crazy Mika and Psycho Joe to the unemployment line and on to the nearest clinic for mental rehab. Unhinged TDS!
I still go to CNN for breaking news. It often tells the truth when it breaks a story before there is time for the
Talking Heads to tell us our lying eyes are deceiving us. I also have to say that its election night coverage is head and shoulders over any of the others.
“... highly publicized missteps...”
That whole line of description needs to die in a hot fire. It wasn’t missteps. It was blatantly manufactured assaults through purposely created misinformation.
Criminal slander and liable created at the top of the org and mouthed and written by all the willing soldiers down the chain of command.
