Dennis Michael Lynch dba DML Daily ^ | July 3, 2017 | Ben Brady

A quality of life study conducted by the website 24/7 Wall Street formulated a list of the 50 worst cities to live in America, and some commonly referenced shanty towns headline it.

The 50 worst cities list was not kind to the state of Michigan, which contributed two cities to the top 10, and is home to the number one worst city to live in the US: Detroit.

This is a dumb list. Medford Oregon is a nice conservative city. Portland (home to ANTIFA) should be on the list. It’s not safe to walk downtown there.

When I went to Camden NJ in 1978, it was the worst place I had ever seen. Now it’s just barely in their top 50.

Truly! They seemed to have detailed criteria on the website, but I still don’t get some of their choices. Some of them are spot on, though.

New Orleans should have been on the list. And why South Bend, Indiana, home of Notre Dame University?

I could see Miami itself on the list. Maybe they know something we don’t.

Or they don’t know either. LOL!

Salt Lake City proper is actually quite small with some congested barrio type neighborhoods. The immediate downtown area is very nice as you describe, but five blocks away or so, not so much. The city proper is only about 12 x 12 blocks, a small part of a large metro area. Yeah, these are big blocks.

What do Merced, San Bernardino and Stockton, California have in common?

Answer: Illegal Mexicans and OTM’s from South of the Border. Both Stockton and Merced (which is the gateway to Yosemite National Park) were nice places when I was growing up in the 1950’s, now you need to be armed to live there.

Dunno...left as a six year old, so don’t know much about its geography or much else!

Oh! Ok! Highland Park and Hamtramck are enclaves of Detroit. I don't know if that is an unusual situation as far as large cities are concerned, but I always thought it was an interesting geographical feature of the city. (I was born and raised in Detroit and now live in a western suburb.)

By your standards, I’d expect the entire state of Montana to show up on this list.

...maybe the writers just couldn’t find us.

Gastonia was a fairly OK place until hurricane Hugo.

It went into a decline and never seemed to recover.
