Yes but even that struck me as a cover to provide plausible deniability. That thing had been shopped around media and entertainment circles for the better part of 2016.
“Subpoena, jail”
Now that’s pretty damn funny! The only difference between the stooge MSM cheerleading for the rats and the pubby stooges investigating the rats is the talking points.
I know the process can be frustrating but the step by step rules must be followed for the final results to achieved. Try to think of a baseball game where the batter comes up to the plate and on the first pitch, hits the ball over the center field fence. Before he and his team are credited with a score, he must first run the bases, touching all four in sequence. If he misses a base or decides to simply return directly to the dugout, no score. The legal system is rule based, as is much in our everyday life, and if you don't follow the rules, you don't get the desired results.
Senator Grassley is an old farmer. He is well aware that you don't harvest your crop until it is ready. He is also very tenacious.
Maybe, but since when did any “investigation” by congress ever amount to anything? Benghazi, Fast and Furious, IRS scandal, Comey? Name one.
It’s all pure Kabuki theater. It ids an opportunity for the congress losers to preen in front of cameras.
I fear you are right but I am encouraged to know that President Trump will very likely not sit still for this because he hardly needs the job he has, can not possibly aspire to any public job of greater importance and knows his future is as bright as can be imagined without having to deal with the total as*holes in Congress.
1. Watergate hearings led.
Under our constitution, power is clearly divided between the various branches and while Congress can investigate and shine the light on violations, they do not have any authority to prosecute or punish anyone. In the instances you cited, we only know details about them from Congressional investigations. The fact that no consequences resulted is a failure in the executive branch (Justice Department), not Congress.
There is now some hope in that we have an honest Attorney General and a President unafraid to take on the entrenched power structure. However, if we expect instant results or for the miscreants to throw up their hands and surrender, we will continue to be disappointed. They will fight to the bitter end and will employ any tactic they can think of. This is the point of my earlier comparison to a baseball game. As hard as it may be, we must remain patient and follow all the rules. The bad guys know well that their greatest hope is for the good guys to make an unforced error. Fortunately, both Senator Grassley and Attorney General Sessions seem to know that and are proceeding accordingly.
Your #14 is fantastic! Pretty much sums it up.
Thanks, that’s why I took the time to build that meme.
