A battle is brewing between the firm behind the salacious Trump dossier and Sen. Grassley
Circa ^ | July 9, 2017 | Sara A. Carter

The firm behind the salacious and unsubstantiated Trump dossier is refusing to to cooperate with the Senate Judiciary Committee's request to provide documentation or respond to questions sent from the committee in March about the clients who paid for the dossier that launched the investigation into the administration and its alleged Russian connections.

The Republican Chairman of the committee, Senator Charles Grassley, warned Fusion GPS, the firm that compiled the dossier, in March about its obligation "to provide details on the history of the dossier" including the clients who paid for it.

The committee also wanted information on Christopher Steele, the former British spy who was hired to work on the project and how the FBI came to be involved in the dossier, and if the FBI paid Steele for his work.

But Fusion GPS, led by former Wall Street Journal reporter Glen Simpson, told the senator's office both in multiple phone calls and in a letter from the company's attorney, Joshua A. Levy, that the committees request for information and documents are "protected by the First Amendment right, attorney client privilege, attorney work product, and contractual rights (e.g., confidentiality agreements) of Fusion and/or its clients."

In a letter to Simpson the committee chided the excuses saying "the minimal and vague explanations your attorney has provided, the Committee cannot adequately assess your claims."

You couldn't make this stuff up....time for Muller and McCabe to recuse themselves from this and other frauds and misuse of taxpayer money for political purposes.

Grassley’s warning has Fusion GPS quaking in their boots. I’m sure that they will comply immediately./s

Seriously, issue a subpoena today. When they fail to show up or refuse to answer, hold them in contempt and put them in jail until they cooperate.

Otherwise, Fake Congress that we pay to do nothing.

let the process fully play out. let people see that Fusion has been given every opportunity to cooperate and when it is obvious to all they will not, then unleash the legal dogs, all of them and use every tool available to make the lives of the subjects (Fusion) miserable.

Someone tell me why the Congress writes letters rather than issue subpoenas.

They really don’t want to know because high level Republicans will ultimately be implicated, seeing as how Fusion GPS was originally hired to dig dirt on Trump not by the Hillary Clinton campaign but by the Jeb Bush campaign. So, they have every motivation to issue these dire statements and letters, then not follow up on them. Matter of fact, it sounds just like Republican behavior in the House and Senate, they only run their mouths about doing anything because they know they’re not going to have to actually do anything about it. Now that Trump is President, what do we see? Dithering, excuses, hostility and inaction just as always, but merely *sounding* conservative isn’t cutting it anymore because they have a President who doesn’t play their game anymore.

Didn’t I see something about them also somehow being behind the Don Trump Jr setup meeting re: Russian adoption?

And if Hillary's goon squad (Fusion GPS) refused to comply, Congress will write them another very strongly worded letter, expressing outrage.

Pathetic.

The only things that will work with these criminal thugs are subpoenas, no-knock raids, arrest, interrogations, indictments, massive fines, and long jail sentences.

Yes you did see that. I did too.

Fusion set the whole thing up and the supposed Russian guy was simply a Fusion plant - not Russian.

Conspiracy writ large to take down our government.

Wasn’t it a McCain staffer that flew over the pond to pick up the dossier and deliver it to the FBI?

>>>>>> We have learned from both our own investigation and public reports that the participants in the meeting misrepresented who they were and who they worked for,” said Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s legal team. “Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the President and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier. <<<<<<<

This is going to be fun. And I read where Grassley is pissed that Fusion will not cooperate with his judiciary committee ... I hope he actually DOES something about it.

This Fusion group and the fake dossier seem to be a nexus for the conspiracy.

And I sure as heck believe Trump’s legal team knows it’s stuff.
