Is anyone else seeing a very slow response from Free Republic?

I pray none in your family are mentally challenged.

None so far. How about you?

FR has been wheezing along for some time now. Some days it's better, some worse. What is particularly frustrating for those of us who support this site is the absence of any information about plans to permanently address these problems rather than just applying a seemingly endless series of temporary patches as parts fall off the wagon.

The lack of enthusiasm for the quarterly pledge drives is symptomatic of this. It's difficult to rally the troops when the ship feels like it's on its last legs and there's no clear voice (a) acknowledging that there is a problem and (b) saying what's being done to fix it and how long that's going to take.

When I first started supporting this site many years ago, the quarterly pledge drives lasted just a couple of weeks and were always long done before the first month of the quarter passed. Last quarter we barely finished the drive before the quarter ended (thanks, in large part to a week-long outage that undoubtedly discouraged many), and at this rate we'll be in "continuous Freepathon" mode before the end of this year. That's completely unsustainable.

We need a definite public plan to put these issues behind us once and for all. I have no problem increasing my level of support, or making a special one-off extra contribution, if I knew it was going to help make that happen. But ignoring the issue while continuing to ask for money with no clear idea of what it will be used for is not a recipe for business viability.

Been going on for a few days now. Drudge has also been hacked since yesterday. Won’t let me in, tells me to turn off my adblocker.

14 of 37 routers for North America are off line, so the system is operating with 62% of the max hardware. Add in the fact that a bunch of people are on line that might not be (no NASCAR race today, so all us rednecks is slowin’ it down.)

Not only “slow”, per se; but seemingly “stuck” somehow. The latest thread that comes up on my screen was posted over an hour ago. Are the Freepers all taking Sunday afternoon naps?

There was an earlier thread today about slowness of the site. It’s been slow for a while now. It’s not you, it’s the site. I use both Chrome and Safari, and this is the only site where the pages hang and take forever to load.

All other websites I go to while waiting for FR to load a page, load very fast. FR is extremely slow.

Several times after waiting for up to a full minute or longer sometimes for a FR page to load, I got an "ERROR" page.

FR please fix this. Who wants to spend half a day just waiting....waiting....waiting for the dang pages to load?

There seems to be something else wrong, too. My reply a few minutes ago, gave no indication that it had gone through; but I just discovered that it repeated several times. Guess I’ll stay off a couple hours. Sorry for the repeats.
