Once there was a special prosecutor named Archibald Cox. He was too big for his britches. He was fired by President Nixon as was the attorney general as I recall.

Short period of protest and then it was over.

Find a crime or go home and save us the pain.

Actually Nixon got Robert Bork to fire them. That’s why the Democrats screwed him.

Firing Cox led to the impeachment process and eventually to Nixon's resignation. But there there was an initial crime--the break-in at the Watergate hotel. John Dean had testified about conversations with Nixon and there were tapes of those conversations. It was incriminating snippets on the tapes that eventually forced Nixon to resign.

The current witch hunt has nothing similar...there is no evidence whatever of an initial crime. But Mueller is out to get someone--probably hopes he can bring down Trump but may be willing to settle for someone close to Trump like Trump's son or son-in-law.

No President has ever had to deal with such a wide-ranging fishing expedition in search of something, and almost from the outset of the administration.
