THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

GEORGE GERSHWIN

SHALL WE DANCE

FRANK SINATRA: “THEY CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME”

This is Frank with Nelson Riddle at Capitol Records, a relaxed Big Band approach.

Frank Sinatra: “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” (1954)

This is Neal Hefti’s arrangement. He worked extensively with Steve Allen in the Fifties and today is best remembered for the music he wrote for “The Odd Couple.”

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

GEORGE GERSHWIN

SARAH VAUGHAN: “THEY CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME”

Sassy rarely disappoints. This laid back small club jazz version from 1954 is a lot of fun.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

GEORGE GERSHWIN

SHALL WE DANCE

ERROLL GARNER: “THEY CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME”

Erroll Garner was one of the reasons why the Fifties was such a great decade for jazz. This 1955 recording shows him at his best. He even briefly turns Gershwin’s melody into Debussy’s “Claire de lune.”

Hiya radu!

My son just left after having dinner here and hanging out.

We've had cooler temps lately but it's suppose to heat up again.

After mowing early I stayed home today, no other errands.

Howz things with you and the little darlins'?
