A lot of people on this thread do not understand what a vasectomy is. Inmates should NOT be granted lesser sentences for getting free cosmetic procedures paid by taxpayers.

Men have to pay child support or go to jail. Mothers, on the other hand, can choose to drop of their kids at any hospital or fire station and walk away, no questions asked.

It probably has to do with the level of difficulty of the procedure and the amount they have to pay the medical personnel (or their time commitment if they are doing it pro bono).
