Is the eclipse throwing shade at Clinton supporters?
The path of ideal viewing spots for this months highly-anticipated total solar eclipse cuts overwhelmingly through places that voted for President Trump in November.

Between New York and California.
One of my twins has mapped it out, we miss most in Reno, wants us to go to Boise or even a McCall a bit north, to see full eclipse. 6-9 hour drive EACH WAY. Still negotiating. So now, guess I can ask first if they support President Trump, else cannot go?
An eclipse? LOL, we aren’t Aztecs anymore. We know that sometimes the moons orbital path intersects with the Sun’s ray’s casting a shadow on the Earth for a relatively short time. Wow, these people have gone absurdly superstitious.
This is not remarkable; geographically, most of the US is Trump Country.
WOW 12-18 hours driving for a 2 minute event, which you may not be able to see, if cloudy? That is a big commitment. (But, as a child, I remember our whole family of 7 going from central IL to Brown County, IN, due to my father wanted us to be able to see an eclipse - this would have been in the 1960s).
All of the motel/hotel rooms in Nebraska from Omaha to Grand Island have been booked for weeks. The eclipse is expected to bring as many as 400,000 visitors to the state, which is YUGE.
hard to hit support that was not there.
As Iowahawk (David Burge) noted on twitter the Boston Globe has too much time on its hands.
My little town of Athens TN is right in the middle of it’s path. County schools are letting out that day and providing all the kids with eclipse glasses. City schools are making the kids attend but will be providing glasses and taking them out to watch it. The schools in Cleveland are letting out too. They are saying that up to a million people might travel to this area to watch it.
Hotel rooms are going for hundreds of dollars and up. Folks are making good money. Trump country, all right. I love capitalism!
Oh for God’s sake.
This is just another example of communists politicizing everything. This is the totalitarian mindset.
I'm in the path of totality about 10 miles south of the center. Taking the day off and having the family over for a barbecue.
You could not pay me enough money to click on a Boston Globe link.
Me, a Globe delivery boy and 30 years (at least) reader.
I would have been a 25 year reader but the neighbor’s kid was so good at the delivery job that I hung in there until he finally went off to college.
We will probably go. Good excuse for them to skip a day. Making them read about it, make a box to observe, and also set up to take pictures of results. Educational. And family. Downside is the hours in the car—iPads!!!
Thanks for the map. I thought it would just get a little dim here in Central Kentucky, but it looks like I’ll be in about the 94% darkened range.
I thought about going down to Hopkinsville, but, nah, too much trouble for a 2 minute show.
Trump, you magnificent bastard.......
“Then you flew your Learjet up to Nova Scotia/To see the total eclipse of the sun”—Carly Simon
Oh, jeez. Now I’m gonna have that song in my head all day! :-)
For folks willing to drive, there are still rooms at regular prices a couple of hours away from totality, at least in the NC, SC areas. That’s what we’re thinking, if we can get away.
But be careful of any changes to cancellation policy.
