Bannon: 'The Trump Presidency That We Fought For, and Won, Is Over.'
Weekly Standard ^

Posted on 08/18/2017 3:50:04 PM PDT by springwater13

“The Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over,” Bannon said Friday, shortly after confirming his departure. “We still have a huge movement, and we will make something of this Trump presidency. But that presidency is over. It’ll be something else. And there’ll be all kinds of fights, and there’ll be good days and bad days, but that presidency is over.”

Bannon says that he once confidently believed in the prospect of success for that version of the Trump presidency he now says is over. Asked what the turning point was, he says, “It’s the Republican establishment. The Republican establishment has no interest in Trump’s success on this. They’re not populists, they’re not nationalists, they had no interest in his program. Zero. It was a half-hearted attempt at Obamacare reform, it was no interest really on the infrastructure, they’ll do a very standard Republican version of taxes.

“What Trump ran on – border wall, where is the funding for the border wall, one of his central tenets, where have they been? Have they rallied around the Perdue-Cotton immigration bill [legislation proposed by Republican Senators David Perdue and Tom Cotton that would revamp the system of legal immigration, favoring immigrants with education, skills and English proficiency. On what element of Trump’s program, besides tax cuts – which is going to be the standard marginal tax cut – where have they rallied to Trump’s cause? They haven’t.”

Where are people getting that Bannon is some conservative? He’s as left as Bernie Sanders. Waaaay more left than Trump.

Bannon is a populist and won Trump the election by motivating more blue collar voters to vote Republican. Conservatives have already lost the culture wars, all that's left for these folks is hope for them to hold on to a decent standard of living. Tax cuts for the well off ain't gonna cut it anymore. Bannon gets it and the Republican Party better too or they will soon go the way of the dodo.

If Trump doesn't follow through on immigration and improve the job situation for blue collar types his support will soon fizzle out. Bannon has a big mouthpiece at Breitbart and intends to use it. I think Trump picked the wrong person to kick off his team, now the globalists take over. The media might go easier on him now, but many of his core supporters ain't gonna like the new direction. Trump's prospects for a second term have just nosedived imo.

15? Name them. Scott is ripping Trump. - Cruz and Lee - are hiding under their desks now while card carrying communists rampage through our history. What patriots. I honestly can’t name one elected Republican off the top of my head other than POTUS that I can 100% support.

Now, Now, How in the world can you expect Cubans to support the Donald?

It is hard not to see that it is over. Depressing end of the week. Trump tied to neo-Nazis, white supremacists, the KKK, etc. Antifa seen as patriotic resistance against this evil. Now Bannon out, McMaster vindicated, Trump can’t do anything right. The media sees this as perfect storm to oust Trump, Republicans are limp wrists as usual. And Trump’s Pershing story? Pathetic and embarrassing. I’m tempted to tune out and check back in six months. Where will he be at then?

Thank you. That was my take away as well. Stage one is over. Now we move on to Stage two. DJT never ‘gives up’.

SWo, here is Trump, the next best thing to ginger cookies and milk and his own “party” scorns him...we are such losers to not figure out a way to support Trump more strongly. We need to do it now because the wall, the immigration changes, etc. that he has proposed will never come again and when Sharia Law comes to your neighborhood, I don’t want to hear about it.

We all know exactly what our history will be in the future.

Dune.

Because he’s drunk?

You are right.

Those who trash Bannon tonight are the enemies of Donald Trump hoping to bring the GOP Establishment back to its old glory when it had to the power to fool people about how conservative they were.

Sounds like he has it exactly right and will continue to support Trump's Presidency in any way he can. Lays the blame fully at the feet of the RINOs who refuse to do their sworn duty and make good on their own promises.

While you mull that over, here's something else to mull over

If we want to make an actual difference, we need to invest ourselves in it instead of just blowing smoke and thinking that verbalization will make a dent against those who kill and destroy in their quest to undo what the Forefathers put together.

A third party would be great. But any POTUS elected from a third party still has to deal with the SAME crappy Congress.
