It’s well documented that Speaker Paul Ryan was not and is still not a supporter of President Trump. Texas GOP Congressman Louie Gohmert reveals Ryan told fellow Congressmen that they should be focused on keeping “President Hillary Clinton” accountable because Donald Trump won’t win the White House.
Townhall reports:
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) has revealed that during the 2016 presidential campaign, House Speaker Paul Ryan told him and his fellow Republicans to give up on Donald Trump’s campaign and just focus their energy on keeping “President Hillary Clinton accountable.” According to Ryan, the Republicans had no chance at the White House, so at the very least they should try to retain their House majority.
The directive came during a conference call, Gohmert told The Daily Caller in a video interview and then confirmed again during his appearance on “Fox & Friends” Sunday.
The Texas Republican, as you can imagine, was not thrilled with Ryan’s suggestion.
“Are you crazy? We haven’t held anyone accountable. You haven’t even let us hold the IRS commissioner accountable [for using government power to harm President Obama’s political adversaries],” an astonished Gohmert said to the speaker on a call.
Let us never forget the audio of Speaker Paul Ryan on a conference call with House Republicans, where he told them to ditch defending Trump. The Republican leader told members of the U.S. House of Representatives that he was abandoning then GOP presidential nominee, Donald Trump forever.

What this shows is that GOP Leadership, and the political consultants that advise them, are totally out of touch with reality, just as the Democrats were.
Anyone who could put their bias away for a second could see that Trump was clearly going to win FL, NC, OH, IA. It was clear that in PA, MI, WI, MN if you were not willing to predict a win, it was necessary to call it: Too Close to Call.
Anyone in touch with reality would not say that it was obvious that Clinton would win.
This leadership lack of contact with reality, with what is actually happening outside the Beltway and outside the newsrooms of the media is a major problem both for politics and for policy.
We need to replace those who have the beltway mentality.
Lyin’ Ryan MUST BE CANTORIZED.
Learn from Hillary’s deplorable comment. Never insult the voters...even when they deserve it. Isolate the enemy.
Exactly!!!!!
This is just confirming of what we thought about Ryan. You are correct. When did Ryan ever hold her accountable and that includes Obama?
This guy is the ring leader in the swamp (make that cesspool). His departure is overdue.
And then the House will elect another GOPe stooge like Kevin McCarthy.
The only way to fix this is to literally throw out the current crop of GOP reps and start over.
I hope Trump tweets a great big “F..
You!”.
Gohmert sure has a pair.
He’s a progressive, what do you expect? Owned by the corporations and special interest groups just like the majority of the DC-ites. We the people do not matter to “them” people, unless they can manipulate and use us for antifa or the alt-right. All to create a problem they will need to fix, because it’s an emergency! Rinse & Repeat!!!
S**t is beyond old. When do they come out with a new play book? Oh wait, they can’t. That would require intelligence.
May the good Lord come again soon! If not, DC sinking into the Atlantic would be a beautiful thing!
“Gohmert sure has a pair.”
He sure does. A man that tells it like it is.
