More frustrating than the cop who lost his perspective and went mad chimp on the nurse, the useless mounds of belly fat who were the University police and Security who watched it happen and stood by.

The cop/paramedic’s employer saw the guy’s behavior ON TAPE and decided that he didn’t want a ‘roid-raging monkey like that working for him. That’s well within the employer’s rights, is it not?

Yeah, now they say it! If you watch the video, the most striking things are: 1) The campus cops need to go on diets as they are all morbidly obese, and 2) they didn’t do ANYTHING to intervene. The U of U Campus Police Chief has a bunch of “explaining to do.” His “officers” didn’t do squat to try and take charge. At the minimum, they should have insisted that Wubbels be released from custody, and took all steps necessary to take charge including arresting the SLCPD officers if necessary. I certainly hope that they now know that they are “superior” to any SCLPD officers who may have occasion to show up anywhere on campus.

You need to read up on what happened! Your account is incorrect. The Logan PD was chasing a pickup that hit an 18-wheeler head on. It was the driver of that rig who was in a coma in the U of U hospital burn unit. So the SLC PD was at the hospital to get a blood sample at the request of the Logan PD. The Logan PD was possibly culpable for the accident because they were chasing the pickup, so you may well be correct that the blood draw was an attempt to find some way to charge the guy with some sort of contributory negligence by reason of drugs or alcohol.
I worked with the police my entire career. Most of them are good guys, but I saw this type of stupid behavior on numerous occasions. I was threatened with arrest on a few different occasions by idiot cops. They never actually did it because each time they were the ones in the wrong and the balance of power was in my favor. They were bluffing to get their way, but I didn’t blink and I had my crews to back me up.
In this situation the nurse was in the right and he knew it. But he thought with her out of the way he could do what he wanted. She didn’t have a crew, coworkers or doctors that he thought would stand in his way. The guy is obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed. He probably has run into difficulties in the past and gotten away with it.
I’ll bet the cops are not getting friendly receptions in that hospital.

I just hope both cops are dismissed from the force, but I doubt they will get the axe.
It's more than that. Nurses follow the orders of physicians. It is illegal for a nurse to do any procedure that isn't ordered by a physician (routine things are covered by standing orders that apply to every patient). A nurse can't arbitrarily decide to draw blood, period.
this guy should not be allowed in any job where he is a first responder or given any meaningful authority over people. hopefully he loses his police job over this.....
my guess is that he wont be able to blend in and get another job when he is fired...the liability issues in a law suit for any police station who hires him is to big. 10 years ago I would say you were right about the guy just moving to another city and getting hired would of happen but to day because of information being so readily available you cant hide from your mistakes they will fallow you.
This bad cop deserves to be doing 20 to life if it can be proven he was going to spike the blood sample and frame the innocent victim for the crash.
The rest is bad; but framing an innocent old man who was laying in the hospital unconscious is simply inhuman.

The 'dumb ass' (another technical term) office did not realize that the nurse was protecting the office's case. If she had draw blood outside of the agreement, then a judge would have thrown the case out!

Conviction
Then punishment?
