The Senate on Monday night unanimously passed a resolution condemning white nationalists, white supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan, and neo-Nazis, calling on the Trump administrationnamely Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the Department of Homeland Securityto investigate all acts of violence, intimidation, and domestic terrorism by White supremacists, White nationalists, neo-Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan, and associated groups.
The resolution is seen as backlash from President Trumps ambiguous response to the violence in Charlottesville last August, in which a 32-year-old woman who was killed by a neo-Nazi who drove into a crowd of demonstrators. Trump blamed both sides for the violence, and later suggested there were many nice people on both sides, including white supremacists and neo-Nazis.
In response, the resolution urges the President and his administration to speak out against hate groups that espouse racism, extremism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and White supremacy; and use all resources available to the President and the Presidents Cabinet to address the growing prevalence of those hate groups in the United States.
The resolution was introduced by Sen. Mark R. Warner, D-VA, Sen. Tim Kaine, D-VA, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-CT, Sen. Cory Gardner, R-CO, Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-GA, and Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-AK.
Oh wait, they never did that...
Thank goodness, here I was under the impression that the Senate was doing nothing.
I guess I’ll be able to sleep tonight.
They missed Islam, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and CNN.
The United States Senate singling out one race by name for condemnation is evidence of institutionalized racism.
Our Senate? The US Senate, so called greatest deliberative body in the world?
Don’t they have real work to do?
Oh so THAT’S what the Senate has been working on. Gee glad to know that they hate the KKK.
They need to condemn those aforementioned groups though.
Uhhhh, is there something more repellant about WHITE nutjobs? This should target ALL supremacists regardless of skin pigmentation.
Repeal and replace Obamacare - nope.
Revise the Tax Code - nope
Fund the Wall - nope
Pass stupid meaningless, useless bills - ALL THE TIME.
I guess this is the best we can expect at $200,000 a head with incredible perks and the shortest work year in the country!
These clowns are nothing but a bad joke....
Of all the issues facing this country, they find time for this?
To get this little party kicked off on the right foot, Sessions needs to immediately start investigating BLM and AniFA groups.
Ditto!
Obviously we were wrong about McConnell. Is this the 182nd bill the Senate has passed? It’s the MOST EVER! Go, Mitch!
(yes, sarcasm)
So happy that after their extended August vacation the Senate is getting right down to the really important business at hand! Way to prioritize Mitch! No excessive expectations here.
Whooped! And meanwhile - hoe many of those senators are on the take from sorozNazi and any of his front groups? I bet quite a number. This is an example of why the public has such great contempt for so many politicians these days
Trump will sign after the House votes 99% for it.
And, to piss everbody off he’ll add a signing statement: “This government believes the politically biased US Congress deliberately neglected to add BLM, Antifa and (2-3 big name commies)”
Let’s go on record with meaningless fluff week!
They are as bad and as cowardly as the California Legislature.
All those groups have called special meetings to vote to disband based on the Senate’s condemnation.
ROFL!!!
I guess I’ll have to throw my grand master hat away. /s
If that’s what it’s called.
Because there is absolutely nothing more important for them to do. (Like Repeal Obamacare.)
They have a plethora of jobs tasked by the President. They have done ZERO. but this crap they waste time on. This is no longer America......we need to take America back.
So, this resolution allows them to wag their finger?
Will they now break for a 2-month vacation after all their hard work?
