As Cortney wrote on Thursday, Harvard was embroiled in controversy, as the institution decided to extend a visiting fellowship invitation to convicted felon Chelsea Manning. Manning, who served in Army Intelligence, is responsible for leaking hundreds of thousands of classified materials on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Upon Manning’s conviction, she was sentenced to 35 years in prison of which she served seven years before President Barack Obama commuted the sentence. The invitation led to the resignation of former CIA Director Michael Morell as a senior fellow. Current CIA Director Mike Pompeo also canceled an event in light of this invitation as well. Now, the Ivy League school has rescinded their invitation, with an apology from the dean of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government (via NBC News):
The dean of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government said the college was withdrawing its invitation for Chelsea Manning to be a visiting fellow and apologized for extending the offer, which prompted a former CIA director and the current one to distance themselves from the university.
Former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell earlier Thursday announced his resignation as a senior fellow at Harvard over its hiring of Manning. Mike Pompeo, the agency's current director, also canceled a speaking engagement there Thursday night.
"I now think that designating Chelsea Manning as a visiting fellow was a mistake, for which I accept responsibility," Kennedy School Dean Douglas W. Elmendorf said in a statement posted on the university's website early Friday. "I still think that having her speak in the Forum and talk with students is consistent with our longstanding approach, which puts great emphasis on the value of hearing from a diverse collection of people.
"But I see more clearly now that many people view a Visiting Fellow title as an honorific, so we should weigh that consideration when offering invitations," Elmendorf added.

I've read Chelsea Manning's Twitter, and she's clearly Harvard teaching material— Alex Griswold (@HashtagGriswold) September 14, 2017
Harvard did the right thing, but it’s probably going to be a very triggering day for progressives.
Media Twitter is going to get really fucking stupid tomorrow AM.

Three decades ago this little queer would have faced a firing squad.
This was the right thing to do. It wouldn’t bode well for the school to invite somebody with a scrambled brain for a fellowship. It was right to cancel.
But she’s still invited to speak. She’s just not designated a “fellow”. I would think she’d rather not be called a fellow anyway.
NO! ...HE was sentenced to 35 years in prison...
He’s simply cannot become She’s.
********
You are so right. Conservatives who continue to refer to HIM as a “her” have become the enablers of the degenderization movement.
Exactly. We let them control the language. Gay, Queer, Antifa, “safe space,” “white privilege,” as simple as “He” and “She”, and on and on. They win by controlling the words we use and we fall right into the trap.
“Those who control language control minds.” Ayn Rand.

He should have never gotten off his 35-year sentence for Treason...and he's hiding behind a skirt (his own) in order to have pulled that off with Obama.....
He's been using his sexual perversion as an excuse ever since he was arrested...and when he found it could generate thousands and thousands of $$$ via go-fund me accounts he's been playing everyone ever since. Now he gets paid interviews and such and lives on easy street....
He doesn't look much different than when he was arrested...a bit of makeup and hair coloring is all it took....
.....John Jay professor at a Manhattan college best known for 'preparing students for careers in law enforcement' was placed on administrative after tweeting hes proud to teach "future dead cops" ... Michael Isaacson, an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, sent the offending tweet on Aug. 23.
Some of yall might think it sucks being an anti-fascist teaching at John Jay College but I think its a privilege to teach future dead cops,... wrote Isaacson, who works in the schools economics department.
Pathetic specimen of humanity.
I have 3 sons and 3 young adult grandsons and I thank the Lord every night that they aren’t like this dreadful creature.
.
Yep....and that’s the type teaching in far too many Universities and colleges now....
Socialism is great in the classroom but Capitalism is greater in the boardroom. Many of Harvard’s alumni would cease their endowment funds if they continued on with the folly of giving a treasonous fag a fellowship
Thanks, I just had a free sample sent to my Kindle library.
